Operating principle

The bismuth compound in the composition of the tablets has an antiseptic and astringent effect. He also has bactericidal activity against Helicobacter pylori. In addition, the drug reduces the severity of inflammation in the gastric mucosa.

Once in the acidic environment of the digestive tract, bismuth forms chelate compounds, which, like a protective film, cover erosions and ulcers. Under the influence of the drug, the synthesis of mucus and prostaglandin E is normalized, and other protective mechanisms are activated, due to which the stomach walls become more resistant to hydrochloric acid and enzymes.

In bismuth also note the property to reduce the activity of pepsin produced in the stomach. Also, this metal stimulates the accumulation in the damaged tissues of a special factor that stimulates cell regeneration. At the same time, in the digestive tract, the drug is almost not absorbed, but leaves the body with feces. That small amount of bismuth, which penetrates through the walls of the stomach into the blood, is excreted by the kidneys.
