At what age can you give your child red caviar?

Content

Red caviar is often found on the holiday table of our compatriots, therefore, when a small child appears in the family, parents are interested in how old a child can be given such a product, how useful red caviar is for a child’s body and how it can harm.

Benefit

Red caviar, which is obtained from salmon, is loved not only for its pleasant taste and the ability to cook with such a product delicacies and festive dishes, but also for its healthy composition. Caviar contains easily digestible proteins, polyunsaturated fatty acids, lecithin, iodine, calcium, sodium, phosphorus, potassium, manganese, and many other trace elements. This product is rich in vitamins A, D, E, PP, K, C and group B.

Red caviar has the properties to improve brain function and strengthen the immune system. The use of this product has a positive effect on blood circulation in the capillaries and reduces the risk of thrombosis. In addition, red caviar supports the function of the thyroid gland and contributes to the proper formation of bones.

Due to the high content of vitamins and microelements, red caviar will be useful for maintaining the functions of certain organs and the body as a whole.

Harm

  • Red caviar often causes allergies (most often in the form of a skin rash). However, it does not always manifest itself from the first test, so the child should be carefully observed after each use of caviar.
  • In many jars of red caviar, which are now sold in stores, there are additives harmful to children. These include urotropin, which in the human body is able to transform into a toxic substance. Even permitted additives, which are sodium benzoate and sorbic acid, are far from harmless, so their intake into the children's organism should be limited.
  • Red caviar refers to high-calorie foods, so its excess amount in the diet contributes to the set of excess weight (especially if the eggs are decorated with butter sandwiches).
  • There are cases of individual intolerance of red caviar. With her, the child will have nausea, a thinning of the stool, a rash on the skin, vomiting, and other negative symptoms.

Caviar should not be given to children with diabetes mellitus, kidney and heart diseases, since this product has a rather high salt concentration.

Having treated the child for the first time red caviar, closely follow the reaction of his body

From what age to give

Most pediatricians, among whom is the popular Komarovsky doctor, advise starting to give the child red caviar from the age of three. Doctors believe that this product is unacceptable to give a baby. Caviar is not recommended for a one-year-old baby, since the risk of allergies and other negative effects on the children's body under the age of 3 years is much higher than the benefits of this product.

Doctors recommend giving caviar to children over 3 years old.

How to enter into the diet

For the first time, a child needs only a few eggs, watching the reaction to a new product. If the tolerance of red caviar is good, gradually its portion can be increased by offering no more than 15 g of product per day. The frequency of caviar consumption in children should not exceed 2 times a week. In addition, the product should not be given to children before bedtime, so that an excessive amount of salt in the calf does not provoke thirst and an increase in the amount of drinking at night.

Treat the child with red caviar should be minimal

What to cook

Most often, children are given red caviar, putting it on a sandwich or half a boiled egg.

You can also:

  • Decorate an omelet or mashed potatoes. Bright orange eggs will not only become an excellent taste complement of such traditional dishes, but also make them attractive. In addition, with the help of caviar, you can "draw" some interesting picture, for example, a fish or a flower.
  • Complete the salad. Red caviar goes well with boiled eggs, cheese, boiled potatoes, avocados, squid and other ingredients.
  • Start pancakes. Red caviar has long been used as a filling for pancakes.
  • Stuff baked potatoes. Potatoes should be thoroughly washed and baked in foil until tender. Then the potatoes need to be cut into quarters, on each slice put a little cottage cheese mixed with greens, salt and sour cream, and decorated with red caviar on top.

How to choose caviar for a child

When purchasing caviar in a jar, carefully read the label, paying attention to the manufacturer, date of manufacture, and the date of packing of the product. In addition to caviar, oils and salts should contain only approved additives (E200 or E211). It is best to prefer caviar in a glass jar, since in such a container you can look at the eggs.

When buying a baby caviar by weight, pay attention to the appearance of the product (the eggs should be elastic and dense, evenly colored), its smell (it should not be too pronounced and fishy) and taste (a small bitterness is acceptable). Do not buy caviar with strong aroma, "blown away" or spotty eggs.
