Tonsilotren for children: instructions for use

Many parents choose homeopathic remedies for treating their children, considering them to be safer than synthetic pharmaceutical preparations. One of the rather popular remedies is Tonsilotren, which has proven itself in inflammation of the tonsils.

This drug is used in acute lesions, and when the disease is disturbed for a long time with periodic exacerbations (if the tonsillitis has become chronic). Before you give it to a child, it is worth learning more about the features of such a homeopathic remedy, schemes of use depending on the course of the disease, as well as possible harm to the child’s body.

Release form and composition

"Tonsilotren" is released only in tablets, one pack of which contains 60 or 100 pieces. Themselves tablets of flat round shape and white matte color. Usually they do not smell, but let's say a slight sulfur aroma. The composition of "Tonsilotren" includes five active substances.

  • Component called "silicon", which is obtained from silicic acid. Its amount in one tablet is 5 mg, and the dilution is D2.
  • A substance called “hepar sulfuris”. These are calcium and sulfur compounds that are found in Tonsilotren in D3 dilution. Their number in each tablet is 10 mg.
  • Compound of potassium with chromium called "Kalium bichromicum". The dosage of such a substance in one tablet is 50 mg, and the dilution is D4.
  • Atropine sulfate, which in each tablet is represented by a dose of 12.5 mg. The dilution of such a substance in the "Tonsilotren" - D5.
  • Compound of mercury and iodine under the name "Mercurius Biyodatus". Its dosage per tablet is 25 mg, and the dilution is D8.

Inactive ingredients of the drug are lactose and magnesium stearate, as well as sucrose, which gives the tablets a sweet taste.

Operating principle

In "Tonsilotren" note the anti-inflammatory effect and the ability to stimulate the regeneration of the tissues of the tonsils. The use of tablets for tonsillitis helps to eliminate the active inflammatory process. In addition, the use of such a tool helps to reduce the tonsils, if they are hypertrophied. The drug also has a positive effect on local immunity.

Indications

"Tonsilotren" includes the complex treatment of catarrhal, follicular or lacunar tonsillitis, as well as chronic inflammation of the tonsils. The tool is also prescribed in the postoperative period for patients who have had their tonsils removed in order to accelerate the healing of tissues.

From what age is prescribed?

In the annotation to the "Tonsilotren" it is indicated that this remedy is not used in children under three years old, since no safety and efficacy studies have been conducted in this age group.

If the tonsillitis is found in a child of the first years of life, he is prescribed other medicines that are approved for children under 3 years old.

Contraindications

Tablets do not apply if the child has hypersensitivity to any of their components. Since they contain milk sugar, the drug is contraindicated not only if it is intolerable, but also when there is a shortage of lactase in the body. Due to the presence of sucrose in the composition, the agent is also not used for glucose-galactose malabsorption.

If the patient is diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, the use of Tonsilotren should be monitored by a doctor.

Side effects

As with the use of other homeopathic remedies, in the first days of using the drug, the patient's condition may deteriorate for a while, which requires re-examination of the doctor and withdrawal of the pills.

Sometimes when resorption of "Tonsilotren" in a child, saliva starts to stand out strongly. In such a situation, it is recommended to reduce the dosage or to refuse further administration of the drug.

Occasionally, an allergic reaction occurs to such pills (most often in the form of itching or skin rash). If allergy symptoms occur, immediately stop giving Tonsilotren to the patient.

Instructions for use

The tablet should be placed in the mouth and dissolve so long until it all dissolves. This should be done separately from meals - either half an hour before meals, or 30 minutes after the child has eaten.

If the baby is difficult to dissolve the drug or there is a risk of swallowing it, which happens at the age of 3-5 years, the pill can be ground into powder and allowed to dissolve in such a crushed form. It is also permissible to dissolve "Tonsilotren" in a small amount of water and allow the child to swallow it, asking for a short time to hold the solution in the mouth.

A single dose for chronic tonsillitis for patients older than 3 years is one tablet. If the child is more than 12 years old, he can take two tablets at once. The regimen provides for resorption of "Tonsilotren" three times a day for 6-8 weeks. Such courses are repeated several times a year.

In acute inflammation, the remedy should be taken at intervals of 2 hours, but not more than 8 times a day for children 3-12 years old and not more often 12 times a day for patients older than 12 years. So the drug is given for 1-2 days, and when the condition of the child begins to improve, they go to a triple dose. Take "Tonsilotren" with angina should be fully cured. If after two days from the start of use, no improvement is noted, you should stop giving the pills to the child and consult with your doctor.

Overdose and drug interactions

In the negative reviews about "Tonsilotren" complain about the lack of effect or effectiveness in chronic tonsillitis only during the reception period. In addition, many parents are alarmed by the composition of the pills, and representatives of traditional medicine put the effect of this drug in doubt, as well as the effectiveness of any other homeopathy.

Analogs

One of the most popular analogues of Tonsilotren is the homeopathic remedy Angin-Khel SD. Such tablets contain arnica, fitolacca, hepar sulfuris, and other substances. The drug must be slowly absorbed in the oral cavity and allowed to be used in children over 3 years old.

Another option to replace the "Tonsilotren" can be called the "Barberry Comp."Such a tool is required for chronic inflammation of the tonsils to prevent exacerbations. Unlike Tonsilotren, it is also prescribed for adenoids. It is produced in granules containing iodine and substances from stevia, thuja and barberry berries. Such granules should be absorbed in the mouth. They, like Tonsilotren, can be given to children from 3 years of age.

If a child has chronic tonsillitis, the doctor may also prescribe "Lymphomyosot"In drops. This tool contains substances from horsetail, gentian, pine, geranium and many other homeopathic ingredients.
