Imunorix for children: instructions for use

Content

Wanting to prevent ARVI in children or quickly cure an infection in their son or daughter, many mothers are interested in drugs that act on the immune system. One of them can be called Immuniks. When it is discharged to children, how is it given and which medication is it replaced if necessary? How many days do you need to drink it for the purpose of prevention and does it not harm the child’s body? Answers to such questions are important to find out before you start taking Immunorix and any other immunomodulator.

Release form

Imunorix is available in liquid form, which is taken orally. The medicine is represented by a red-violet transparent solution that smells like wild berries. One pack includes 10 small glass transparent bottles. Each of them contains 7 ml of the drug. All vials are sealed with plastic caps that have an opening control.

Composition

The active ingredient of the drug is pidotimod. One vial contains 400 mg of such a substance. It is supplemented with sodium saccharinate, sodium chloride, trometamol, purified water and edetate disodium. The drug also contains 70% sorbitol, sodium propyl and methyl parahydroxybenzoate. For bright colouration, crimson dye and anthocyanin were added to the solution, and the fruit flavor gives a pleasant smell to the medicine.

Operating principle

Imunorix is a representative of the group of immunostimulating agents.

Its active component affects cellular immunity in the following way:

  • Accelerates the maturation of lymphocytes (T cells).
  • Stimulates macrophage function to capture antigens.
  • Increases the activity of cells called natural killers.

In addition, the drug affects the production of cytokines, antibodies and some other factors that help protect the body from various harmful effects. The medicine taken inside is absorbed very quickly, and its half-life from the body is 4 hours. The drug is excreted mainly in the urine.

Indications

Imunorix is recommended by immunologists in violation of cellular immunity. The drug is used for infections of the respiratory system (sore throat, pharyngitis, tracheitis, nasopharyngitis, laryngitis, epiglotitis, croup, bronchitis, etc.), as well as infectious inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract. In addition, the solution is given to children for the prevention of exacerbations of chronic pathologies. For acute infections, medication is often prescribed in addition to antibiotic therapy.

At what age is it allowed to take?

The drug is not used for children under three years of age. If the child is not yet 3 years old, the doctor will prescribe a medicine that is allowed by age. At the same time, Immuniks should not be given to three-year-olds and older children of their own accord. Before you begin a treatment or prophylactic course, you should talk with the pediatrician and make sure that the child is well tolerated and it is really necessary.

Contraindications

The drug is not prescribed if the child is found to be hypersensitive to pidotimodu or any other ingredient of the solution. Also, this medicine should not be used in case of fructose intolerance. If a child has allergic diseases or hyperimmunoglobulinemia E, Imunorix should be given very carefully to him.

Side effects

Reception of Imunorix in rare cases becomes the cause of:

  • Nausea, abdominal pain or loose stools.
  • Allergic dermatitis, urticaria, itching of the skin, swelling of the lips or skin rashes.
  • Hemorrhagic vasculitis or uveitis.

Such negative reactions should cause a small patient to see a doctor.

Instructions for use and dosage

Since food reduces the bioavailability of the drug almost by half, the drug is recommended to be taken between meals - either two hours before meals, or 2 hours after a snack or main meal.

For prophylactic purposes, medication is prescribed for a course of 60 days. It provides that a child should take 1 bottle of Imunorix per day, daily.

For acute illness, use the following regimen:

  • In the first two weeks, the child is given one bottle twice a day.
  • Then proceed to receive 1 bottle of medication once a day for 60 days.

Overdose

The manufacturer does not indicate any data on the possible overdose of the drug. But, if the medication is taken in too large a dose, you should immediately consult with a pediatrician. If there are any painful symptoms, supportive treatment is prescribed and the baby is monitored until full recovery.

Interaction with other drugs

Since pidotimod does not have the ability to bind to the proteins circulating in the blood and the drug does not disintegrate and does not change in the tissues, Imuro-Rix does not expect any pharmacological interactions. However, the drug can affect the therapeutic effect of other drugs that affect the activity of cells of the immune system (both stimulate and suppress).

Studies have shown that the drug can be administered together with paracetamol, indomethacin, phenobarbital and many other drugs. That is, if the child's temperature rises, he can safely be given both a febrifuge and Imunorix.

Terms of sale

You can buy Imunorix in a pharmacy only after receiving a prescription from a doctor. The average price of one box with 10 bottles is 800-900 rubles.

Storage conditions and shelf life

Keep Imunorix at home should be in a place where a small child will not find the bottles. The temperature during storage of the medicine should not be higher than 30 degrees Celsius. Putting the drug in the refrigerator is optional. Shelf life is 3 years. If it has already expired or the marking on the pack is fuzzy, you cannot give medicine to children.

Reviews

About the use of Imunorix in children there are different reviews. In positive parents note the good effect of such a drug, emphasizing that the child has become less sick or the infection is in a milder form.

However, it is often difficult to judge efficacy, because Imunorix is often only one of the drugs of complex therapy.

Nevertheless, there are complaints of negative reactions, for example, the appearance after the reception of a solution of a small skin rash or nausea. In addition, many mothers note the high cost of medication, because one pack is only enough for 5 days of treatment during treatment or 10 days of prophylactic treatment.

As for physicians, some specialists often use immunostimulatory drugs in their practice and see only benefit from them. Other doctors, which include Dr. Komarovsky, prefer to affect the immune system of children with non-drug methods, for example, to maintain optimal microclimate parameters in the room, wash hands more often, visit less public places during the period of increasing morbidity, moisturize mucous membranes, and so on.

Analogs

Drugs with the same active substance as in Imunorix do not currently produce.

However, other medicines that can affect the immunity of children can be used to replace this medication, for example:

However, mothers should take into account that such drugs have a different composition and a different mechanism of action on the immune system, therefore, it is best to select the appropriate analogue together with your doctor.
