Learning to write numbers

Content

More and more modern specialists are inclined to think that the school should not be the only place where the child is taught - parents in many ways should themselves help the child acquire various skills. Actually, it is much easier for parents to catch a suitable mood of the child, and the children themselves are much more willing to communicate with their loved ones, therefore, in some cases, they are better able to perceive information in the conditions of home schooling.

Many parents believe that the child should be able to write the numbers on their own before school, and if they have not yet taught this in the kindergarten of the kid, the parents themselves should get down to business. This task is not an easy one, but not the most difficult one, if you thoroughly understand it.

How to teach a child?

It should be immediately noted that we learn to write numbers only after we are confidently learning the concept of counting, otherwise the whole process will slow down much - the child will begin to draw scribes, representing for him a perfect abstraction. Therefore, it is worthwhile to build a sequence of classes correctly, and begin, first of all, with an oral account.

Modern children learn to count quite early - they must become familiar with the concept of numbers no later than 3 years. Special developmental literature at this point has time to acquaint them even with the visual designation of numbers, but they will not be fixed in the head of the baby until he begins to use them. Experts advise in the form of a game to ask the child to count certain items - it is necessary to do this every or almost every day.

At this stage, the numbers should be simple - from 0 to 9. It is necessary to closely monitor the mood of the child - it is undesirable to “load” him with his studies, when he is clearly doesn't wantotherwise it will be much more difficult to succeed.

That is why the lessons should remind the game, and for any success of the kid you should definitely praise out loud.

When the child consistently counted the child (just don’t think that it would be enough for a day or at least a week!), It’s time to reinforce the knowledge of the numbers so that the kid confidently determines them, not remembering every time in his head what figure there is behind the four. To do this, you need to connect associative thinking, “tying” each figure to a specific place or event.

Relatively speaking, you can draw a large beautiful figure (any) in the kitchen, and another - on the front door, explain to the child what the numbers are and make them associate with food or a walk. Since the task is to deviate from a strict sequence of numbers, they should not describe the schedule of the day in order, but be randomly distributed. Only when the child learns to confidently identify every written number can one begin to learn how to write.

Classes with a preschooler

At one time, all parents' hopes for teaching children were associated with school, but in the modern world it is easier for a child to learn how to write numbers before school, especially since they will give a lot of other useful information there without that. Experts recommend starting the appropriate preschool education. not earlier than at the age of 4-5 - it is at this stage that they are ready to accept information of this level of complexity normally.

It is very important psychological approach. It should be borne in mind that the child at this stage does not understand the whole meaning of having such a skill at all, and if he does not like the process of learning, he will not break himself for the sake of a great goal, but will simply be capricious and not accept the information. At the same time, writing a number to a child who has not yet learned how to do this is not easier than his parents to draw Chinese characters.

Among other things, it differs from adults in that it gets tired much faster, so it is crucial to have great patience and in no case scold the child if he does not succeed. In no case can not also force him to sit on the task until until it turns - after all, he does not intentionally do badly.

It is believed that the optimal duration of the lesson does not exceed 15-20 minutes, and you can shorten it even more in favor of more frequent repetitions - this will give a faster result.

The most reliable explanation for the baby, why he should be engaged - because it's interesting. So that the child does not get tired of the monotonous, albeit short-lived, alternate methods. You can draw numbers along the contour, from point to point, on a special notebook, or even just draw them from your favorite color book, because children love to draw. It remains only to direct this energy in the right direction, by offering the child to draw something useful for himself.

Help schoolboy

It is already quite difficult to find such a child, who by the time of going to the first class would still not be able to write numbers. Nevertheless, all sorts of situations happen, and newly minted first graders usually, if they can write numbers, they do it rather clumsily. You can hope that over time, the skill will develop by itself, but it is better to remember in time that there are adults with disgusting handwriting, so you should start to solve the problem early.

Again, it is possible to learn to write beautifully as a result of constant practice, but the question is whether the child will try to depict a figure, or limit itself to the formal similarity of a scribble.

It is proved that those children who devoted a lot of time to calligraphic deduction of numbers and letters, over time, they learn to write beautifully quickly and without the slightest effort.

Today, it is much easier to interest a child with calligraphy than before, because now a huge number of benefits have been invented that make learning playful. Separately, it is worth highlighting connecting points - kids love these tasks very much, because drawing them is not yet at a sufficient level of power, and only in this way can they portray something that they could be proud of.

There are special notebooks devoted only to spelling, but it is possible to choose for the child more tricky tutorials where numbers and letters are like characters in a complex picture. Here it is necessary to note a subtle psychological course - a child, once having achieved a nice outline of letters and numbers, may experience some disappointment from the state in which his everyday calligraphy is. This is where you should slip him a specialized study book, hinting that he can always write beautifully like this. However, you can not crush here.

How to train a lefty?

Contrary to popular belief, it is no more difficult to teach beautifully to write a left-handed person than a right-handed person, because both of them are learning from scratch. The only difficulty for a left-handed person may be perhaps that the writing of numbers was invented by right-handers, because a little more "sharpened" for the needs of his right hand, and not his left. However, there is still no known case where one of the teachers came up with the idea of drawing separate teaching notebooks and bitmaps specifically for left-handers - they learn by the same aids and methods as all other children.

By the way, many parents notice that their children in the process of learning to write numbers depict them in mirror image, which is often perceived as a sign that the child is left-handed, even if he writes with his right hand.

Child development specialists say that the nature of this phenomenon is somewhat different - the children's brain is simply not yet sufficiently developed to fully perceive spatial phenomena, therefore the child, having generally remembered the outlines, is not always able to keep the angle of rotation in the head. With frequent demonstrations of such an effect in a child of 4-5 years, it is usually recommended to simply postpone learning calligraphy to a later date - the child, apparently, is not ready yet.

If the situation is typical for an older child, you need to turn, logically, to a speech therapist.

Best practices

There are quite a few different techniques designed to present the process of studying numbers as something very interesting for a child. Several of them are immediately used by a popular author of children's educational literature in his special notebook for learning to write numbers. Elena Bortnikova.

For a child, the easiest way to write a number is more or less plausible - to circle it along a previously drawn outline. This is exactly what the author proposes to make the child, simultaneously adding an element of the game and a simple account, because you will have to encircle not only the figure, but also the corresponding number of objects - waves, mushrooms and so on. Some tasks contain small examples, like “4 + 1 = 5”, which is also illustrated by drawings.

At the same time, everything looks rather monotonous and doesn’t resemble the game that much, so time devoted to learning, really have to be dosed.

The notebook also assumes that in a real school the child will have to write not by points, but by cells, and neatly - so that the numbers do not crawl out of the box. Without a specially developed skill, it is not so easy to do this, so there is a section in the notebook devoted to pointing a point contour inscribed in a cell. It is difficult to judge how effective this technique is, but the child will get some idea of what awaits him in the future.

Some experts, by the way, believe that it is not worth hurrying with learning to write to a letter - it is better to carefully prepare the child for the moment when they begin to teach it in school. This training does not provide for the practice of writing, but allows you to develop fine motor skills, which will help you learn new skills as quickly as possible.

Absolutely any ways to develop fingers possession will work here: finger twister and shadow theater, making appliqués and cutting paper figures, drawings on sand and folding origami, working with a designer and weaving, modeling clay and drawing.

For a child to write an ordinary letter “a” is difficult just as for a person who does not know how to draw a believable copy of “Mona Lisa”, because he is not yet very good at using his hands, therefore, you need to help him at least with this.

Parse the figures in detail

We, adults, write numbers without thinking at all about the writing mechanism, and the child still needs to clearly explain how to do this in the most convenient way. Special pictorial “instructions” are issued, including single digits, including zero, as well as large composite numbers, like fourteen, and “less” and “more” signs for a parallel minimal mastering of mathematics.

In general, the process can be explained to the child as follows:

  • 0 - is a simple oval occupying only the right half of the cell, its upper part is inclined to the right; drawn in one circular motion.
  • 1 - we draw a line from the center of the cell to the upper right corner, and from there - another one, to the middle of the lower cell line.
  • 2 - from the center of the upper half of the cell, we start to draw a semi-oval right, touching first the top and then the right edge (at the same height from which we started), then from the same point we draw a slanting line to the center of the bottom edge. After that, from the center of the bottom line to its right edge, we draw three waves - up, down, and up again.
  • 3 - the easiest way for the child to explain the scheme is as “we draw in the right part of the cell a snowman from two balls open to the left, the top of which is a little smaller”.
  • 4 - from the center of the upper edge we start to lead the line down with a slight bias to the left, in the middle of the height we turn it horizontally to the right, a little before reaching the right edge we tear off the handle. Finish “four” is necessary with the help of an oblique line from the upper right corner to the middle of the lower edge.
  • 5 - just to the right of the central axis of the cell, draw a line from top to bottom to the middle of the height, which is gradually shifted to the left, and then from its end we draw an oval, not closed on the left side, touching the right and bottom edges. We tear off the hand and separately draw the "bird" at the top.
  • 6 - from the upper right corner up and to the left we begin to draw an oval with a view to covering the right half of the cell, touching the upper and lower edges, but after that we sharply turn the lower part into a circle, touching the right edge and connecting with the previously drawn line almost in the center of the cell.
  • 7 - in the right half of the upper part of the cell from the middle to the corner we draw a wavy line, and then, without lifting the hand, we continue it from the upper right corner to the center of the lower edge. We tear off a hand and with a short line we cross the last straight line in half.
  • 8 - again “snowman”: we draw in one movement, starting in the middle of the future upper oval (smaller), without closing it, go to the lower oval, and having finished drawing it, close the upper one at the point from which we started.
  • 9 - we draw a circle on the entire right upper corner, starting from the point of contact with the right edge, draw its line across the top edge and the center of the cell, and returning to the starting point, “unfold” and draw an unfinished oval so that its base is shifted to the left and concerned the lower edge.

Writing more complex numbers like 10, 14 or 20 for a child will not be difficult, because they are not written together - it is only important that he understands their integral essence and principles of composition.

Consolidation of the material studied

There is no better way to consolidate knowledge than practice; therefore, upon completing the study of the theory, it is necessary for the child to work quite a lot in writing. remember, that writing is a difficult task, the child gets tired quickly, so you should not “load” it to exhaustion. Preschoolers need to learn to write numbers no more than 20 minutes a day, regardless of the success of the results.
