11-year-old boy in the US was arrested for refusing to give the oath of allegiance to the national flag

In the city of Lakeland (Florida, USA) an extraordinary event occurred - arrested 11-year-old child who refused to give the oath of allegiance to the national flag.

The ceremony of taking the oath of allegiance to the flag is considered annual, it is held in all educational institutions of the United States.

The boy unexpectedly for the gathered participants and guests of the ceremony declared that won't take an oathbecause it believes that the US stars and stripes insults black people and symbolizes racism, and the country's anthem with its text generally degrades the dignity of black people.

The teacher called the guard, and they called the police. Formally, it is impossible to arrest for refusing to take an oath, there is no such law, and therefore the child was arrested for allegedly threatening to beat the teacher and violating the school routine.

Principal boy sent to the center of juvenile delinquents. There he will be up until February 19. On this date, the court appointed a student. His parents strongly disagree with the accusations against his son and intend to defend him at any cost.

The Supreme Court of the United States of America back in 1943 decided that children cannot be forced to take the oath of allegiance to the flag. But in practice, for decades, everything is different. Their own rules apply in every school, in every college, and in some places, for example, in Texas, besides loyalty to the national flag, children are forced to take an oath of loyalty to the state. In Missouri, schoolchildren taking an oath is a weekly ritual, and in Mississippi, children do it once a month.

After the arrest of the child who had stirred up a public revolt, the authorities of the city of Lakeland promised to restore order and dismissed the teacher. The woman told the authorities that she had no idea that the oath to the flag was voluntary, she was sure that the need to pronounce it was spelled out in the Constitution and is mandatory.

But the arrested little boy is no better at this: he is charged with quite serious charges of beatings and misconduct, and the punishment for this can be harsh.
