It is planned to increase payments to Russians who care for a disabled child more than twice
The State Duma of the Russian Federation has started consideration of the draft law, which implies increase in social payments. In particular, it is planned to double the amount of payments for parents who take care of a disabled child in more than two times.
We are talking about children with the first group of disabilities since childhood, as well as some other categories of sick children. Such payment as of September 2018 is equal to 5,500 rubles per month.
Parents or adoptive parents, as well as official guardians who are able-bodied by age, but who are unable to work because of the need to stay with a disabled child, can count on it. If the child is looked after by a grandmother, grandfather, girlfriend, neighbor, then the payment is 1,200 rubles.
If parliamentarians support the bill, then payment will increase to 12 thousand rubles a month for parents, guardians and adoptive parents and up to 3 thousand for other persons.
Recent studies of social workers have shown that many children don’t spend more than 10 hours a day caring for a disabled child of the first group since childhood, and therefore many don’t think about going to work.
The size of this social benefit has not been indexed before. Now, with the adoption of the new document, not only a one-time increase in size will be envisaged, but also regular indexing.
If approved, the bill will enter into force from January 1, 2019.
