State Duma deputies want to ban the sale of sweets to children under 14 years

Deputies of the State Duma decided to help children lose weight. After analyzing the obesity rates among children in the country, the elected representatives of the people came to the conclusion that in Russia, a ban on the sale of sweet to children who are under the age of 14.

The appeal was addressed to the head of the Ministry of Health of Russia Veronika Skvortsova.

In addition to this ban, deputies intend to oblige the producers of lemonades, sweets and chocolates to indicate in large letters on the packaging of their goods about the dangers of sugar to health. Today, such labels are mandatory for tobacco and alcohol manufacturers.

Excess weight in children today is indeed the number one problem.

But even in families, where they are trying to organize the right baby food, there is no way to keep track of what the child buys when there is only one. Many on the way from school go to the store and buy chocolate bars, lemonade.

The sale of such goods to children who do not have a passport (and it is issued at the age of 14) should be punished in the same way as the sale of cigarettes and alcoholic beverages to minors, deputies consider.

In the near future, if the Ministry of Health and Rospotrebnadzor approve the initiative (and there is almost no doubt about it), amendments to current legislation will be considered, and chocolates with lemonade will be included in the list of products prohibited for children.
