Children of people affected by the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant will receive government support

Russian President Vladimir Putin put his signature to the law providing for measures of state social support for children of those who suffered from the Chernobyl accident at the nuclear power plant in 1986.

The new version of the law implies and stipulates measures of assistance both to the victims of radiation and their children.

From now on, the children of “Chernobyl victims” will be able to receive benefits and benefits regardless of where were they born - in the zone of radioactive damage or outside it.

Also, adjustments were made to individual paragraphs of the previously existing document.

A new version of the law has already been submitted on the legal information portal.

In addition to a number of legal clarifications, the law states that social support measures for all those who have been adversely affected after an accident at a nuclear power plant, cannot be lowered, payments and benefits cannot be reduced under any circumstances.

Recall, the tragedy happened on April 26, 1986. Radioactive contamination has affected 19 regions of Russia.
