The State Duma is urged to abandon school homework in favor of walking

State Duma Deputy Boris Chernyshov, who is the deputy chairman of the parliament’s committee on education and science, said that homework assignments that are abundantly given to children at school are a relic of the past.

According to the parliamentarian, they should be abandoned as soon as possible and children should be free to go for walks and sports.

He referred to the world experience - there is no homework in the schools of Europe today, because children's doctors and psychologists talk about the overload of children and teenagers.

Homework only exacerbates the already considerable stress to which children are exposed in schools.

According to Chernyshov, because of this excessive load that falls on the shoulders of children, they quickly lose interest in studying and education in general.

He encouraged colleagues to think about a bill that would officially cancel homework for schoolchildren.

There will be no lag from the curriculum if it is more fully and fully taught during school hours. And the children will get time for playing sports and walking in the fresh air - this is exactly what the average schoolchild is now sorely lacking.

The Chernyshov initiative was supported by the Ministry of Health, pediatricians insist that such a measure could significantly strengthen children's health, which today, alas, leaves much to be desired.

The Ministry of Science and Education has not responded to the appeal.
