Books that cripple a child’s psyche - the children's ombudsman called “shameful” works

Thought-provoking “threw” Anna Kuznetsova, a children's ombudsman, to her parents. She publicly, while working at an event in the country's main children's library, presented a list of works that she believes are harmful to children. Children's Rights Commissioner under the President of the country called them "shameful".

The list includes works by our contemporary - the poet Igor Irtenyev, in particular his “Tale about the Eye” (a poem about an eye that accidentally fell into the toilet), Svetlana Lavrova’s fairy tale “Where the Rooster Horse Rides”. In total, the Ombudsman listed 16 pieces.

According to Anna Kuznetsova, who herself is a mother of many children, these literary works are “scary to show even to adults”. Almost all works belong to the category of modern poetry and prose.

The application of the children's ombudsman is actively discussed at various venues. Kuznetsov was supported by children's psychologists in Moscow, who substantiated exactly how and why these verses and fairy tales negatively affect the outlook of children.

But the writing community is at a loss. The author of the verse about the organ of vision that fell into the toilet, Igor Irtenyev, stated that he did not understand why the ombudsman had no other worries about how to make black lists of books. He wrote his poem as early as the beginning of the 90s and now he wonders why the “wave” of indignation arose only now.

The work of Svetlana Lavrov, “Where the Rooster Horse Rides,” is in general an interpretation of the folk tales of the indigenous peoples of the Komi Republic. For him, five years ago, the author received a high award - she became the winner of the literature book for teenagers "Book."
