Ministry of Health warns: in Russia this week is expected to peak flu epidemic

The head of the Ministry of Health, Veronika Skvortsova, stated that this week in Russia is expected to peak flu epidemic. All regions of the country are already affected by the incidence, and in 23 of them the epidemiological threshold was exceeded by 100%.

Influenza in 2019 is characterized by rapid spread, and in just a few days the number of cases increased by more than 30%. But the incidence itself is estimated as moderate, doctors manage to keep it under control.

76% of cases are cases of infection with the strain of influenza A. Almost 10% are accounted for by the influenza virus type B.

In each region of Russia, according to the Minister of Health, a stock of personal protective equipment (masks), as well as medicines that will help in the symptomatic treatment of influenza, is formed. The stock should be enough for two weeks, as many experts believe the epidemic peak will last.. More than 100 thousand infectious beds have been organized in hospitals, there are more than 15 thousand beds in intensive care units in case of a severe course of an infectious disease.

Doctors remind that the most dangerous flu is for children and senior citizens - the immunity of children and elderly people is not able to quickly give an immune response to the virus, and therefore severe and dangerous complications are likely - meningitis, meningoencephalitis, pneumonia, myocarditis, etc.

Rospotrebnadzor opened today flu prevention hotline. Anyone can call their territorial office of Rospotrebnadzor and learn how to protect a child from a dangerous disease.

Parents are not recommended to drive and send children to mass events, especially if they are held in rooms with large crowds of people. During the peak period of the epidemic, it is undesirable to drive a child to shopping centers, shops, clinics, hospitals and pharmacies. If it is possible to avoid trips in public transport, it is better to temporarily abandon them.

Rooms need more airing. At the first signs of discomfort, the child should remain at home; he should not be allowed into the kindergarten or school so as not to put other children at risk. Ill be sure to call the doctor at home.

Ministry of Health warns that self-medication for flu is very dangerous.
