In Russia, they want to punish pregnant women for tobacco and alcohol

In Russia, offered to fine sellers who sell tobacco products and alcoholic beverages pregnant women.

For the expectant mothers themselves, it is also planned to envisage a system of financial punishment for the use of intoxicating drinks and smoking during the period of carrying the baby.

This initiative was made by deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Leningrad Region. They have prepared a package of bills, and in the near future the local parliament will consider it.

At the same time, the package of documents will be submitted to the State Duma for consideration of the initiative at the All-Russian level.

Fines are planned to be substantial: for a legal entity (the management of the outlet where the prohibited goods were sold to the pregnant woman) up to a million rublesfor the very future mother - up to 5 thousand rubles.

An explanatory note to the draft law states that these measures are necessary to protect children's health.

It is also proposed to put on a preventive record in the children's clinic of pregnant women who at least once were caught violating this law.

It is possible that a child of a smoking or drinking woman may subsequently have serious health problems.

The law is planned to consider as soon as possible.

According to statistics, about 20% of pregnant women continue to smoke, despite warnings from doctors, and about 5% of women in the "interesting position" from time to time can afford alcoholic beverages.
