Caution - drops in the nose: in St. Petersburg, the child was poisoned with medicines for the treatment of rhinitis

In the period of rising incidence of ARVI and influenza, many parents diligently take on the treatment of their children. Often the efforts are excessive, and the treatment ends with sad consequences.

It happened in the northern capital. Hospital No. 5 of St. Petersburg received a two-year-old girl who mom healed nose drops.

The mother buried the baby "Naphthyzin", and did it very often and in large dosages. As a result, vasoconstrictor drops, which should not be used for children without prior dilution, caused a critical vascular spasm. Now the child is in reanimation in a state of moderate severity.

The baby's family is quite prosperous, both parents have a higher education, earlier neither mother nor father came into the field of view of the law enforcement officers. Why did they decide to treat a sick child at their discretion, without the appointment of a pediatricianis unknown.

Doctors now do not guarantee that the poisoning of vasoconstrictor drugs will end. safely and without consequences. Often, these drugs cause persistent drug addiction, dystrophic changes in the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract. Even "childish" drugs for a cold with a vasoconstrictor effect are not recommended for digging into a baby without a doctor's recommendation for more than 3-4 days.

Cases of severe consequences of excessive efforts of parents in the fight against ARVI in children are already registered in different regions of the country.

Thus, in Murmansk, recently, according to local media reports, a five-year-old boy was hospitalized with a burn of his respiratory tract - his mother unsuccessfully inhaled the child. In Samara, parents healed a three-year-old daughter with cough medicines to severe toxic poisoning with medicines, and in Vladivostok, a two-year-old child was hospitalized with burns of 15% of the body due to the cans incorrectly set by grandmother.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health of Russia issued a memo-recommendations for the treatment of SARS. It was first indicated and substantiated inexpediency of prescribing antiviral and homeopathic remedies for children with influenza and ARVI.
