They decided to fight with child piercing legally
In Wales, minors are banned from piercing. The reasons for such a decision by local authorities are concerns about the state of health of children and adolescents. This is reported by the British tabloid "The Guardian". The authors of the law emphasize that punctures of the face and body can lead to infectionincluding HIV infection, besides a child with piercing can become the object of ridicule among peers.
According to the normative act, which came into force on February 1, 2018, adolescents were forbidden to do punctures on the tongue, chest, nose, eyebrows. As an exception, they still have the opportunity to pierce their ears or insert a ring into the navel. But these parts of the body as a piercing springboard are still being discussed by the doctors and psychologists of Wales.
Wales was the first of four administrative divisions of Great Britain, which passed a similar law, although there has been talk about the dangers of child piercing in the United Kingdom for a very long time.
Now the execution of the new law is under the control of the police. Guards order check tattoo parlors and private workshops. From now on, masters of tattoo and piercing must keep special reporting documents in which they indicate the age and passport details of their clients. Police officers should review these reports weekly.
Wales Health Minister Dr. Frank Etterton claims that approximately 30% of adolescents complain of various complications after being punctured in hospitals. This doctor was one of the initiators of the new law and now sincerely hopes that the number of complaints from adolescents will decrease significantly.
Piercing on the tongue, according to the doctors of Wales, is doubly dangerous - it injures the tooth enamel, leads to swelling and wounds of the lips, gums, often causes complications of the respiratory system.
The UK government reacted to the new law with a fair amount of skepticism, the document was criticized, but did not cancel it, deciding to see what results such an innovation could bring in the future.
