Registration of children born through IVF will be easier.

The State Duma intends to consider a bill that clarifies the rights in the Family Code of the Russian Federation single women and those who are not married, for registration of babies born as a result of the use of assisted reproductive technology methods - IVF.

Federal legislation stipulates that in Russia methods of infertility treatment are permitted, in which some stages of fertilization and embryo development take place out of mother's body - in terms of embryology laboratories.

The use of donor eggs and spermatozoa, cryopreserved cells and embryos, surrogate motherhood is also permitted.

Under existing legislation today, couples, both married and unregistered as husband and wife, as well as single men or women, can resort to IVF.

The Family Code, in turn, implies that the right to be recorded as parents is for married Russianswho mutually agreed on IVF.

Single women who have become mothers of eco-children, as well as couples living in a civil marriage, thus having some difficulty in registering a child. As in the case of surrogacy, which is not prohibited, but clearly and not regulated.

It turns out that the Family Code infringes upon the rights of certain categories of parents.

The draft law, which is planned to be considered in the very near future, is aimed at eliminating legislative inconsistencies and contradictions.
