Parents told which subjects in Russian schools teach the worst

Russian parents took part in the survey, which was conducted by experts of the All-Russian Popular Front and specialists of the National Resources Education Foundation. The purpose of the study was identification of problems in modern school education. In total, 1600 parents of schoolchildren from 84 regions of the country participated in the survey.

Mom and Dad asked the quality of teaching what school subjects today leaves much to be desired. Most parents noted that worst in Russia are taught foreign languages.

About 42% of moms and dads said that poorly teach their children computer scienceand almost as many parents (40%) complained about poor teaching in the school curriculum of physics, chemistry and biology. 35% of fathers and mothers noted a weak teaching of such a necessary subject today as economy.

62% of parents said that modern Russian schools in general do not pay enough attention to practical classes, limited to the presentation of theoretical knowledge. In the absence of practice, experiments, theory for a long time in the minds of children does not linger, and therefore the quality of knowledge, in particular, in physics and chemistry, is much lower today.

The lack of necessary practical exercises and work leads to the fact that it is more difficult for children to put any knowledge into practice - and this applies to all spheres of life.

To the question what subjects teach well, parents noted that this is the world around. Nearly half of moms and dads said that high school students teach physical education. 47% of parents surveyed noted the high quality of teaching fine arts and music. 43% of parents praised teachers of Russian language and literature.

Experts inquired about the opinions of parents about possible reforms and improvements in education. To the question what needs to be done in schools to improve the quality of education, parents responded that it was necessary to build a system of vocational guidance, because today even school graduates shortly before the exams have a bad idea of who they would like to see themselves in the future. We also need additional classes in a foreign language, free electives in subjects, as well as classes in which children will be taught the art of public speaking and discussion.

The ONF experts sent the results of the survey to the Government of Russia and the Ministry of Science and Education for review. They hope that the parents' opinion will be the basis of legislative changes in the curriculum.
