Russia began preparations for the flu season

In the regions of Russia began to flow first batches of flu vaccine.

Most of the doses are intended for free immunization as part of the National Immunization Schedule. Now vaccines are distributed to clinics and hospitals.

By the end of September, it is planned to vaccinate more than half of the adult population and reach at least 80% of children.

Who should get free vaccinations? All babies who are already 6 months old, preschool children and schoolchildren, as well as students. From adults, workers of transport, education, doctors, housing and communal services, pensioners over 60 years old, draftees, and pregnant women will be able to rely on free vaccination.

For children and pregnant women will use a special kind of vaccine - an inactivated vaccine that does not contain a preservative.

This year, epidemiologists predict a rather severe strain of influenza, which has mutated in comparison with the previous season.

Therefore, protective antibodies against the following strains were included in the vaccination this fall:

A / Michigan / 45/2015 (H1N1) pdm2009;

A / Singapore / INFIMH-16-0019 / 2016 (H3N2);

B / Colorado / 06/2017 (line B / Victoria / 2/87).

While in the regions of Russia the incidence of ARVI is far from the epidemic level, the flu viruses have not been noticed at all. But you need to be vaccinated in advance, so that the immunity has time to “master” the introduced antibodies against pathogens.

It should be noted that the flu vaccine is not a guarantee that the disease will not happen. But vaccinated children and adults suffer from influenza less often and more easily, the probability of dangerous complications after the flu (which, in fact, should be most feared) in the vaccinated does not exceed 5%, while for the unvaccinated the probability of complications is 85%.

Supplement is scheduled for November 1, 2018.

Students will be vaccinated in polyclinics of universities and technical schools, children attending schools and kindergartens - at the place of study and pre-school education. Children who do not attend kindergarten should be vaccinated at the children's clinic where the child is observed at the place of residence.
