Russia began to vaccinate against the flu

More than half of Russian regions started getting flu shots. By September 1, vaccines are planned to be distributed in all regions.

Rospotrebnadzor states that the first wave of the incidence of influenza and ARVI will be in mid-September. Separate outbreaks of acute viral infections are already observed in a number of regions, but it is too early to speak about the flu, experts say.

In areas where the incidence is traditionally higher, vaccinations began to be set from August 20-23. Such regions include Buryatia, Udmurtia, Republic of Mordovia. In Primorye and Siberia, flu vaccinations will start from September 1. The central regions for the most part will also begin vaccination from the first day of autumn.

Due to the proliferation of vaccines, the death rate from the flu was reduced by more than 60%, Rospotrebnadzor said. And the incidence of a dangerous virus itself has decreased markedly.

Doctors say that vaccination in late August - early September - This is the best option for children and adults.. This is due to the fact that antibodies after administration of the vaccine in the body are not formed immediately, but only within 2.5-3 weeks.

Children who attend kindergartens and schools will be vaccinated at the place of school or pre-school education. Babies who have not yet attended kindergartens, can be planted in the children's clinic in the place of residence.

The World Health Organization stresses that children from six months to five years, pregnant women, adults with diseases of the cardiovascular system and respiratory organs, retired people over 65 and health workers are at risk for severe complications of influenza.

They will be offered free flu shots first.
