An alternative to Mantu - next year a new drug will appear in Russia to diagnose tuberculosis in children

In 2019, Russia plans to begin production of the drug, which will allow detect tuberculosis in a child with a blood test. This will greatly facilitate the lives of many families who, for several reasons, refuse to sample Mantoux. Among the most common causes of failures - individual intolerance to the drug and the beliefs of parents. Children who do not do the "button" will simply donate blood for analysis.

Anna Kuznetsova, the Commissioner for Children's Rights under the President of the Russian Federation, spoke about such perspectives. According to her, parents of babies who are not given Mantoux tests send numerous complaints to the Ombudsman’s office, because their children cannot attend kindergartens and schools, they are often denied registration to a child’s health children's campin a sanatorium.

It allows for analysis without injection, only on baby's blood samples. However, this drug is not common and affordable. The cost of research on tuberculosis using T-SPOT is approaching to 7 thousand rubles.

Anna Kuznetsova raised the issue of the availability of alternative diagnostics to the Ministry of Health and Social Development, to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Scientists from the joint stock company Generium in the Vladimir region decided to tackle the problem of tuberculin diagnosis among children.

Drug analogue of the British T-SPOT has already been created, work on it is being completed. By the beginning of next year, the documents for registration of the funds will be transferred, after which the drug will go to medical institutions. It is planned that the parents of the Russian drug will be completely free, its use will be included in the compulsory medical insurance. Well, the cost of the drug for the state treasury will be several orders of magnitude lower than the price of the British original.

The same Vladimir enterprise several years ago was awarded the prestigious French award for the development of Diaskintest - a drug that is intended to replace Mantoux. Diaskintest has long been successfully used in Russia.
