"Vasya's dad is strong in mathematics": Russian parents do their homework for their children

More than half of Russian moms and dads admitted that doing school homework instead of or with their sons and daughters.

Such data were obtained during a sociological survey.

In such actions, admitted 56% of adults.

Most often, moms and dads have to solve math problems for children (this is how 32% of respondents answered).

28% of moms and dads say they are doing a foreign language job for a child, 26% do Russian for a child. A quarter of parents draws on a given topic, and 19% make literature (it is not entirely clear how they teach them poetry or read the eternal Russian classics instead of them?)

Daddies usually help school children with math, physics, and drafting. Moms - with history, Russian language and painting.

About 70% of parents state that they do their homework with their children, that is, in fact, they simply prompt and help. Only one out of ten parents agrees to do the task himself instead of the child.

37% of parents said that children's homework for them is an excellent practice, since a self-respecting school program cannot be forgotten.

And only every third parent sincerely believes that the child should do the lessons exclusively on their own.

Since parents still have work and household chores, sociologists took an interest when they find time for child’s lessons and how much do they do on average. It turned out that a third of parents in Russia spend about 1 hour a day on the lessons of their child-pupil. A little less (29%) teach lessons with children for 2 hours, and only in every fifth family homework turns into a rather long joint “torment” - more than 3 hours a day.

More than 8 thousand Russian parents took part in the survey.
