Give birth to health: scientists have debunked the myth about the dangers of late birth

Israeli scientists disproved the widespread belief that late childbirth can be dangerous.

A study conducted at Ben-Gurion University in the Negev showed that it is quite possible to give birth safely at 35, at 40, and at 50 years of age. Researchers evaluated and analyzed the risks to the mother and fetus in the projection of the age of the mother.

It turned out that now is the time to raise the bar of the reproductive age, since today egg donation and reproductive assistive technologies are developed all over the world.

The study involved 243 thousand women aged 40 to 50 years. Previously it was believed that pregnancy in this age group is associated with the risks of premature birth, preeclampsia, hypertension, congenital malformations of children, severe complications of childbirth.

The results showed that of all of the above, there are certain risks only in relation to chromosomal abnormalities in a child, because the sex cells of women and men age with age, the probability of mutation increases.

Otherwise, the risks and dangers are significantly exaggerated - this is the conclusion reached by scientists.

And the discovery that the risks, which are increased in 40 years, was quite unexpected by the age of 50 they are falling again. Therefore, childbirth after 50 years is even safer than childbirth at 40.

Scientists who conducted the study presented their report in Los Angeles at the conference of obstetricians and gynecologists. They expressed the hope that women will no longer be afraid of age, and will begin to give birth after 40-50 years. At the same time, experts stressed that before deciding on such a crucial step, it is necessary to consult with a gynecologist, since there are individual factors that may affect pregnancy and childbirth.
