How many children are needed for happiness: Russians voted for large families

The All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) has published the results of a new survey that was conducted among men and women of reproductive age.

They were asked about how many children does an ordinary family need for happiness.

Marriage must be concluded precisely in order for lovers to have the opportunity to give rise to a new life. 54% of respondents fully agreed with this statement.

Four years ago, no more than a third of Russians considered large families to be the optimal phenomenon. Now 43% of respondents voted for three or more children.

Slightly less - 42% of reprondents said that best to have two children.

And only 3% of respondents confidently made for one child in the family.

To the question why do you need to have childrenRussians responded as follows:

  • 21% of respondents are confident that raising a child and loving him are the main purpose of life;
  • 14% of respondents care about the future of the country and give birth to improve the demographic situation;
  • 12% of parents count on a glass of water in old age.

What prevents to have children as much as you want?

44% of adults answered that the reason was a lack of money. Every fourth respondent claims that the true reason lies in selfishness and unwillingness to bear responsibility, every tenth noted that health problems could be the reason for refusal to give birth to children.

VTsIOM experts are confident that the growing popularity of large families was influenced by the state policy of supporting families with children. The opinion of having many children is also changing - now in the eyes of others such families are no longer considered poor, unhappy and destitute.

2 thousand people from all regions of Russia took part in the survey.
