Sociologists told how parental shadowing kills the best in children

The desire of parents to be aware of the affairs of their children is understandable, but vigilant control of the child using modern digital technology can cripple the identity of the child.

This is the conclusion sociologists from Moscow State University. Children who are accustomed to total digital control do not know how to independently navigate the terrain, build safe and effective routes in their heads.

Modern reality gives parents great opportunities - literally every step of the child can be traced and checked. If you put a geolocation program on your child’s phone, you can always see in real time where your son is, and if you wear a smart watch on your child, you can also hear who and what the son or daughter is talking about.

All these devices are designed for peace of moms and dads, sociologists say, but in fact they are the ones that increase the anxiety level in adults - if the battery is dead or the phone is lost, parents without data on the child’s condition and location start to “go crazy.

Digital tracking is also negatively affecting the development of a child, according to the Department of Ethics at the Faculty of Philosophy, Moscow State University. The child does not feel confidence from the most native peopleand no argument that everything is being done for the sake of his own safety cannot act upon him.

Being raised in conditions of lack of trust, the child grows up mistrustful, prone to anxiety personality disorders, pathological jealousy, secretive. This is how he will relate to other people - his own family and children, friends and colleagues.

In addition, the responsibility for the actions of constant surveillance has not added to anyone, according to scientists. In this regard, the experts suggested that parents should think about the problem well, honestly answer themselves, is it important for them to spy on children using gadgets, because once the trust is broken in the relationship it will be very difficult to return later.
