Scientists have identified one of the most likely causes of autism in children.

Scientists from Columbia University in the United States of America have found that the popular insecticide DDT, commonly referred to as “dust”, is the most likely cause of autism in children.

DDT is often used as an effective remedy for insect pests, including mosquitoes.

The last study showed that when a pregnant woman comes in contact with this drug, the probability of autism in an unborn child increases by 2.5 times, and the autism spectrum disorder begins to develop in the period of intrauterine development.

The scientists' approval was based on the data of medical examinations of patients with autism from 1987 to 2005.

Almost all families where a baby with autism was born during this period used DDT.

Scientists have found that even the rejection of the use of insecticide during pregnancy does not save, because toxic substance has a property of accumulating, and if before the planning of pregnancy in the family often used it, then in the woman's body has already occurred changes that affect the DNA set of eggs.

The most likely to give birth to a mentally retarded child or child with autism are women who have been in contact with DDT since childhood (parents used an insect repellent).

A large amount of harmful substances accumulate in their bodies, and the mutation of the DNA of the eggs occurs during puberty. The risk of having a sick child is increased in such women. not 2.5 times already, but at least 7 timesas evidenced by the results of the study.
