Dutch scientists have found out what conditions contribute to the rapid development of the brain in children.

A long-term study has shown that the stress experienced at an early age has a positive effect on the processes in the cerebral cortex - the brain accelerates.

The results of scientific research published in the authoritative publication Scientific Reports.

Researchers at the University of Nijmegen emphasize that we are talking about the stresses caused by parents' divorce or illness.

After such "events" the prefrontal area of the brain is activated, which leads to a significant speeding up all the processes in the child's body.

The control group included 37 children. All of them have recently suffered stress factors, as parents reported to scientists. The events were different: relocation, change of school, the death of someone from relatives, divorce.

Rapid changes in certain parts of the brain were recorded. mainly in children under 5 years.

Older children are able to draw much less benefit from stress. And adolescents older than 14 years did not demonstrate any changes in the prefrontal area of the brain.

Children who have experienced stress at an early age show a higher ability to adapt in the future, they make decisions faster, learn better and have a large margin of patience in conflict situations.
