Scientists: toothpaste and shampoo destroy children's health

A group of scientists at the University of California (Berkeley) conducted a study and found that many hair shampoos, soaps and toothpastes contain substances that adversely affect the endocrine system of children. These substances are called EDC. It is established that they have the greatest effect on sex hormones.

So, girls under the influence of these substances reach sexual maturity much earlier than is necessary for harmonious development. And for boys, on the contrary, testosterone production is inhibited, and puberty is delayed.

The results of the study are published in the scientific publication Human Reproduction. The study involved 338 children of different ages - from newborns to adolescents.

It was found that over the past two decades, the average age of sexual maturity has shifted, and now menstruation does not begin at the age of 13-15, but at 9-10 and even 8 years.

The detected combination of chemicals from toothpaste, according to scientists, increases the risk of developing ovarian and testicular cancer.

Phthalates, parabens and phenols were attributed to the EDC..

It has also been established that the presence of such compounds in a paste or shampoo increases the likelihood of teratogenic effects on the fetus in the womb, scientists have associated with EDC cases of autism, which have recently become more common.

The recommendations of the researchers were sent to WHO, the World Health Organization experts have already received their report and intend to take drastic measures: manufacturers of toothpastes and shampoos are scheduled to be banned from adding these substances to their products.

In the meantime, there is no prohibition, parents will have to monitor the presence or absence of EDC when choosing a particular remedy for their child.
