In Russia it is proposed to pay alimony for former spouses

In Russia, they proposed to introduce a new type of alimony payments - for the maintenance of the ex-husband or wife, provided that he (she) does not work, but brings up joint children.

This appeal was sent to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection by the Chairperson of the National Parent Committee Irina Volynets.

The social activist herself explained that the number of divorces is rapidly growing in Russia. According to statistics, up to 48% of couples who entered into an official marriage, part.

At the same time, parents' divorces significantly impair the interests of children and reduce their standard of living, especially if the parent with whom the children were left does not work.

In this case, the alimony must be charged not only to the child, but also to his non-working parent.

The amount of alimony is supposed to be defined as 1 minimum wage (the minimum wage in Russia). From January 1, 2019, its size will be 11,280 rubles.

The authors of the initiative are convinced that will help protect the interests of children and make the family better.

It is assumed that such alimony will be charged to a spouse who does not have an objective opportunity to work - the child is too small, the woman is breastfeeding, there are several babies who need to be accompanied in kindergarten, school, the child has a disability or chronic diseases.

It is proposed that payments continue until a child or younger child is 18 years old. But as soon as the recipient is employed, the payments will stop. Even if the child by this time has not yet come of age.

That the former or the former have found a job, they will have to notify the second parent by mail. If this is not done, the payer can go to court to return the money received illegally by the ex-wife or husband.

The Ministry of Labor will consider the proposal as soon as possible. Skeptics say that the introduction of such alimony will only exacerbate the situation - the number of debtors for alimony, which today is not small, only grows, which ultimately will affect the welfare of society as a whole.
