Separately sold spray called Tantum Verde Forte. Its main difference is the higher dosage, so this drug is contraindicated up to 18 years.

Composition

In all variants Tantum Verde contains the same active compound, which is called benzydamine hydrochloride. Each green tablet contains it in a dose of 3 mg, and 100 ml of any liquid form of the drug - in an amount of 0.15 g. Because of this, the solution for local processing has a concentration of 0.15%, and one spray dose contains 0.255 mg of the active ingredient.

In addition to benzydamine, citric acid, racecentol and isomaltose are present in the tablet drug. For a pleasant smell in this form of Tantum Verde there are lemon and mint flavors, for a bright color - dyes (indigo carmine and quinoline yellow). Sugar in these candies is not, and aspartame is added for sweetness.

Both liquid forms of the drug as auxiliary ingredients include saccharin, glycerin, purified water and polysorbate 20. Also in the composition of these drugs are 96% ethyl alcohol, sodium bicarbonate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate and menthol flavoring. In addition to the spray solution, in addition there are blue and yellow dyes.

Mechanism of action

In terms of its effects, benzydamine in the composition of any of the forms Tantum Verde refers to anti-inflammatory agents with a nonsteroidal structure, since it is able to inhibit the formation of prostaglandins and stabilize membranes in cells. Thanks to this mechanism the drug has local analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.

In addition, the active compound Tantum Verde has antiseptic properties against many microorganisms. It quickly penetrates the membranes of bacteria and damages their cellular structures, as well as disrupts metabolic processes, which results in the lysis of a microbial cell.

Benzydamine was also found to have an antifungal effect, due to which the drug acts on candida. The drug changes the structure of the walls of the cells of the fungi and affects the metabolic chains, due to which their reproduction is disturbed, and the pathogen of the fungal infection is eliminated.

Tantum Verde acts locally and penetrates well into the mucous membranes, affecting the inflamed areas. The secretion of the drug from the body passes through the intestines and kidneys. At the same time, there is no systemic effect of this medication, which excludes the negative effect of benzydamine on the internal organs and overdose of any form of the drug.
