Analgin with "Dimedrol" - the dosage for the injection of a child

Content

If the child has a high temperature and this is a danger to his health, it is necessary to resort to emergency ways to combat fever, which include injections from several medicines. The most common and frequently used medical combination - Analgin with Dimedrol. When should it be used for children, in what proportion do these drugs usually use and how to make an injection?

Features of drugs

Analgin is a nonsteroid medication of the anti-inflammatory group. Its solution is available in 1 ml as well as 2 ml ampoules. The concentration of the active substance represented by metamizol sodium in this solution is 25% or 50%. One pack contains 5 or 10 ampoules. Their composition includes only the active substance and sterile water.

Analgin is permissible to enter both intravenously and into muscle tissue, but intravenous administration is carried out only in the hospital. Doing an intravenous injection of such a drug at home is unacceptable. In addition to the injection form, Analgin is available in candles with different dosages and tablets.

The active substance in the solution for injection Diphenhydramine represented by diphenhydramine. It is an antihistamine drug that affects the histamine-sensitive H1 receptors. Ampoules contain 1 ml of solution, and the active compound is presented in a concentration of 10 mg. They are sold in cardboard packs of 10 pieces. Diphenhydramine is also available in tablet form, 50 mg of diphenhydramine per tablet.

The drug is intended for both intramuscular and intravenous injections. In this case, the introduction into the vein, as for Analgin, should be strictly under the control of physicians, so these injections are prescribed only in hospitals. At home, the drug is allowed to prick only the muscles.

Why is prescribed together?

Used in combination, Diphenhydramine and Analgin, enhance the therapeutic effect of each other. Since these drugs, administered at the same time, very quickly help at high temperatures, this mixture is called lytic. Analgin in the composition of such a mixture has not only antipyretic, but also analgesic effect.

As for Dimedrol, his task is to eliminate puffiness and relax smooth muscles. In addition, this medicine has a sedative effect and prevents an allergic reaction to the administration of a mixture of drugs.

The effect of the injection is observed 10-15 minutes after the intramuscular injection of drugs. The effect of the injection persists in most patients up to 4 hours. The main indication for the use of this combination of drugs is the danger of high temperature for children. An injection is often given at very high rates (above 39 degrees) and at increased risk of seizures.

How old can you be?

The instruction allows the use of Analgin in children older than three months, but at an early age this medication is prescribed strictly according to the indications and control of doctors. It is dangerous to give an injection to a child under 2–3 years old on your own. If an injection is given to a child under one year old, it should be given only intramuscularly.

Dimedrol solution is allowed in pediatrics from 1 year.If it is necessary to give an injection to children of 3-12 months, the drug is replaced by Suprastin, since it is acceptable to inject the solution of this antihistamine medication intramuscularly to infants older than one month.

When can not do the injection?

Injection of lytic mixture is contraindicated:

  • with intolerance to any component;
  • with problems with blood formation;
  • with serious liver diseases;
  • with renal failure;
  • if bronchospasm occurs;
  • with diabetes.

It is also forbidden to give an injection for acute abdominal pains, if the diagnosis has not yet been determined (elimination of pains can interfere with the correct determination of their cause and worsen the child’s condition).

The use of the injection requires caution and observation of doctors in the presence of injury, bronchial asthma, allergies, and hypotension in a small patient. If there is even the slightest risk to the health of the baby, you should abandon Analgin and choose a fever-reducing antipyretic drug, safer for children, such as Paracetamol.

Side effect

An Analgin prick along with Dimedrol is capable of:

  • greatly reduce body temperature for a long period;
  • provoke an allergic reaction;
  • reduce blood pressure;
  • cause syncope;
  • disrupt the digestive tract;
  • worsen the production of leukocytes, which in some cases leads to agranulocytosis.

An overdose of medication causes shortness of breath, abdominal pain, drowsiness, cramps, hemorrhages, and other dangerous symptoms. Often a child with an overdose of Analgin with Dimedrol needs to be hospitalized to maintain vital functions in the hospital.

Dosage

If the child is under 8 years old, the dose of Analgin for him is best calculated by weight. To determine the daily amount of such a medicine, the child’s weight in kilograms is multiplied by 5 or 10. Such a calculation accurately determines the amount of metamizole sodium in milligrams, permissible for a particular baby.

The resulting amount is divided into 2-3 single doses. However, they should not exceed 100 mg for babies up to the age of three and 200 mg for children aged from three to eight years. A child older than 8 years old, a single dose of Analgin is 250-300 mg of its active substance, and in 14 years and older it rises to 500 mg.

The dosage of the solution for injection Dimedrol is determined by the child's age:

  • If the baby is from 1 to 3 years old, then 0.5 ml of medication is injected, but the dose can be increased to 1 ml if necessary.
  • For children 4-6 years old, the dose of the solution for one injection is from 1 to 1.5 ml.
  • At the age of 7 to 14, 1.5-3 ml of the drug are taken for one injection.

How to make an injection?

For manipulation, you should take a sterile syringe with a long needle. Ampoule and skin at the injection site must be disinfected, for example, lubricated with medical alcohol. Ampoules of drugs before opening should hold for a while in your hand, so that the solution warms up a little.

The instruction does not recommend to mix Analgin with other medicines, therefore, for an injection, you must first collect this medicine and insert it into the muscle, and then, leaving the needle in the body, type Dimedrol in the same syringe and insert it through the same needle. However, in practice they often resort to simultaneous administration. Having opened ampoules, each preparation in turn is gathered into one syringe. Usually advised to dial Analgin, and then dilute it Dimedrol.

It is best to inject drugs into the muscle of the thigh or shoulder so that the medications are likely to fall into the muscle tissue. If drugs are injected into the skin or under the skin, it will cause irritation or an inflammatory reaction. For this reason, the injection into the gluteal region is less preferable, because the gluteal muscles are located quite deep.

Elena Malysheva and her colleagues in the program “To Live Healthy” will tell and show in detail how to make an injection into the buttock.

Application at a "white" hyperthermia

So called a condition in which, in addition to raising the numbers on a thermometer, a child has pale skin, and his baby's limbs and forehead are cool to the touch. Such symptoms are caused by spasm of peripheral vessels, due to which the heat transfer is disturbed.

The treatment tactics for this fever and "red" hyperthermia is different. It is important to give the child a drink of warm water, and his skin should be rubbed and massaged. In drug treatment, “white” fever requires the addition of the “Analgin + Dimedrol” combination with any antispasmodic.

Since three drugs are administered at the same time, this mixture is called “triad”. The third drug is most commonly used. No-shpawhose active ingredient is drotaverin. This medication helps to eliminate vasospasm and cause their expansion. He is appointed to children older than a year.

No-shpu is often replaced by another medicine with a similar therapeutic effect - Papaverine. It is produced in 2% solution and is used in children older than six months. This remedy effectively eliminates spasms and dilates blood vessels. In a serious condition, the doctor may additionally prescribe a child. Dexamethasone or other medicines.

How to buy and store at home?

To purchase an injectable form of both Dimedrol and Analgin, you need a doctor's prescription. The average price of a box of ten ampoules of each medicine in 1 ml of solution is 25-35 rubles. Drugs are available in almost every pharmacy.

Keep vials at home should be in a place where medicines will not be able to get small children. Since the solution of any drug placed in the vial is sterile, it is stored for a long time (the shelf life is 5 years).

After opening drugs should be used immediately. Store drugs in ampoules, if they have access to air, allowed no longer than 15 minutes.
