Release form and composition

The Maxicold line includes the following drugs:

  • Suspension Maxicold for children. This product is a gray or gray-yellow viscous liquid with a strawberry or orange flavor. It is available in bottles of 100, 150 or 200 g. Ibuprofen is the active ingredient in this form of medicine. Its dosage of 5 milliliters of syrup is 100 mg. Additionally, the drug includes maltitol, sodium citrate, xanthan gum, glycerol and other compounds.
  • Pills Maxicold. They are characterized by an oval shape and an orange-pink film membrane. One pack contains from 2 to 24 tablets. Their composition includes three active components at once - paracetamol (500 mg in each tablet), phenylephrine in the form of hydrochloride (10 mg per tablet) and ascorbic acid (in a dose of 30 mg in one tablet). Among the auxiliary compounds of this drug is hyprolosis, calcium phosphate, talc and other substances.
  • Powder Maxicold. It is packaged in bags, which in one box contains 5, 10 or 50 pieces. After mixing with water, an orange, raspberry or lemon drink is formed from such a powder. The active ingredients of this form of Maxicold are identical to the drug in tablets. One bag weighing 5 g serves as a source of 750 mg of paracetamol and 60 mg of vitamin C, as well as 10 mg of phenylephrine. In addition to such substances in the composition of the powder is saccharin sodium, lactose, starch and other components.
  • Spray Maxicold Lor. This medicine is produced in aluminum cans with a spray. Inside the cylinder there is a 0.2% solution of hexethidine, represented by a colorless liquid with menthol aroma. 100 ml of this solution contains 200 mg of the active ingredient. It is supplemented with eucalyptol, peppermint oil, ethanol, glycerin, levomenthol and some other substances.
  • Maxicold Reno powder. Like ordinary Maxicold in powder form, such a product is sold in portion sachets, but it is packaged in 15 g. One box contains 5-10 sachets, and after mixing with water from their contents, a drink with a taste of lemon, raspberry or orange is obtained. The active components of such a powder are also represented by phenylephrine (10 mg per bag), vitamin C (50 mg in 1 bag) and paracetamol (325 mg per bag), but the fourth ingredient, pheniramine maleate, is added in a dose of 20 mg. . Additionally, the medicine contains citric acid, calcium phosphate, sugar, ethylcellulose, and other compounds.

Operating principle

Ibuprofen, received by a child from Maxicold suspension for children, inhibits the synthesis of substances that support the inflammatory reaction, cause hyperthermia and conduct pain impulses (prostaglandins).

The result of the use of such a drug will be a decrease in temperature during fever, an anesthetic effect and a decrease in the activity of inflammation.

The healing effects of pills or Maxicold powder provide the ingredients of such forms. Thanks to phenylephrine acting on alpha-1 adrenoreceptors, the drug narrows the small vessels, with the result that the hyperemia and swelling of the nasopharyngeal mucosa decreases, and it becomes easier to breathe through the nose.

Paracetamol in the composition of the drug fights heat and pain, and vitamin C increases resistance to infections and fills the body's need for ascorbic acid.

Pheniramine in the composition of the drug Rhino blocks histamine receptors, which helps reduce the manifestations of rhinitis and eliminate swelling in the nasal passages and sinuses.

In hexatidine in the composition of Maxicold Lor has antiseptic properties. Such a substance not only affects the fungi and bacteria, but also envelops the mucous membrane, as well as anesthetizes a little. He also has an effect on influenza viruses, PC viruses and herpes viruses.

Indications

Maxicold for children is prescribed:

  • As a febrifugewhen the child has a fever due to influenza, scarlet fever, vaccinations and other factors.

How old is allowed?

Maxicold tablets are allowed at 9 years of age, and powder forms (including Reno preparation) are prescribed for children 12 years and older due to the higher dosages of the active ingredients.

Contraindications

All forms of Maxicold should not be given in case of hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the prescribed medication, as well as in case of severe renal pathologies and serious liver diseases.

Children's suspension is not used for fructose intolerance, inflammatory or ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, heart failure, as well as problems with blood clotting. The medicine in this form is prescribed with caution in case of edema, bronchial asthma, autoimmune diseases, diabetes mellitus and many other diseases.

Maxicold tablets and powder form should not be given for hyperthyroidism, heart disease, increased blood pressure and angle-closure glaucoma. Spray Maxicold Lor is contraindicated in the atrophic form of pharyngitis.

Side effects

While taking Maxicold inside, there are sometimes side effects such as abdominal discomfort, tachycardia, loose stools, a decrease in the number of blood cells, nausea, shortness of breath, kidney problems, skin rash and others. When they occur, you should immediately show the child to the doctor.

Treatment with the ENT agent occasionally provokes a burning sensation or an allergic reaction.

If the medication is accidentally swallowed, it can cause nausea, and too long treatment leads to disruption of the sense of taste.

Instructions for use and dosage

  • Suspension bottle for children must be shaken before use. Dispense such Maxicold with a syringe or spoon attached to a bottle. At one time a child is given 5 to 10 mg of active ingredient per 1 kg of its weight.   • The tablet form is given either before meals or one to two hours after a meal. This medicine should be taken with plenty of water. A single dosage is usually 1 tablet. A child over 12 years old or with a weight above 40 kg is allowed to give and 2 tablets per reception. The interval of using this form of Maxicold is at least 4 hours, and the frequency of use is no more than 4 times a day.
  • Powdered Maxicold before taking mixed with hot water. Crystals from one packet are poured into a mug, mixed and, after waiting for dissolution, they drink the drink hot. The maximum dosage of such drugs in children is 3 sachets per day. The drug is taken at intervals of 6 hours. To eliminate pain, both powder and tablets take only 1-5 days, and for fever 1-3 days.
  • A child older than 6 years old, affected areas of the pharynx or mouth are treated after eating with Lohr spray twice a day for 5-7 days. During spraying a small patient must hold his breath.   • One bag of Maxicold Reno dissolved in a glass of hot water and drink hot. If required, add sugar to the beverage. Overdose

Interaction with other drugs
