American scientists have come to the conclusion that mothers of many children are old

Researchers at Northwestern University in the United States conducted an experiment and found that women who are mothers of several children are different from childless or very young women. elevated cellular aging.

The research results are published in MedicalXpress.

For the study, a group of 1000 Filipino women aged 20-23 years was created. 102 of them had two children, 28 women were mothers of many children - they had three children. More than 500 women from the group were never pregnant, and the rest were mothers of just one baby.

A study of blood tests for aging markers, as well as genetic studies, showed a rather curious picture.

Each childbirth caused changes at the cellular level in the mother, on average, the woman became biologically older by 1.5-2 years.

At the same time, for women who became pregnant early, the rate of telomere reduction, and, therefore, aging, was approximately twice as high.

The widespread claim that childbirth is rejuvenated is thus refuted.

But the results of the study are not a call to abandon childbearing, the authors of the experiment emphasize. The obtained data will form the basis for the study of immunological processes in the body of pregnant women. It is gradually planned to reduce the level of cell aging by creating special vitamin preparations for pregnant women, which, in addition to saturating the body with essential elements and substances, could control the reduction of telomeres, not allowing an increase in their biological age.
