None of the doctors believed that the baby could survive - the boy developed necrotizing enterocolitis several hours after the birth of the baby - an aggressive infectious disease in which the walls of the small intestine of a premature baby are destroyed, die. This disease is lethal.
Doctors at the Whitfield City Clinic (Indiana, USA) were forced to find the right words and tell the baby's parents that the chances of survival did not exceed 0.5% and recommended starting preparations for the funeral.
Parents asked the doctors to say goodbye to the baby, to spend his last days with him. They were admitted to the intensive care unit. The boy’s attending physician stated that parents made a real miracle with their sincere love - at the time when they were admitted to resuscitation for the first time, about 90% of the intestines died in the child. Earlier in medicine there were no cases when with such lesions someone managed to not only survive but also recover. During the operation, the specialists were surprised to note that the necrotic lesion was preserved only in 10% of the intestinal area. How to recover all that was affected earlier, doctors can not explain.
Rowan's mom says that everything that happened is a real miracle and the best Christmas present in her life.
