Art in bandages: in Tatarstan a hospital nurse made a monument to the mother and child from scrap materials

One of the maternity hospitals of Tatarstan had a sculpture, which has no analogues in the whole world. A local nurse, who never had anything to do with art and creativity, made a monument to a nursing mother. For its creation, the woman used only the materials she is used to with whom she deals daily, - bandages.

Ksenia Kazachkova was very worried when the “mother and child” monument, which stood at the maternity hospital for several decades, disappeared. There was only a pedestal. As it turned out, the plaster bust was sent for restoration, but the restoration of the monument was delayed.

To a sad empty pedestal did not meet women in labor and their relatives at the entrance to the hospital, the nurse decided to try to fill it with something. To create her masterpiece, she was forced to read several books on sculpture.

For a month, a woman made a monument that looks like the one that has stood here for many decades, but still it is not a copy. The woman from the bandages is very similar to Ksenia Kazachkova herself. The woman explained the striking resemblance easily - to create the face of a nursing mother, she needed molds, she made them from her own face, applying a bandage in layers.

Ramil Khamidullin, the head physician of the maternity hospital, ordered the nurse to be given a premium, and leave the monument on a pedestal. In any case, before the return of this monument from reconstruction. When this happens, the handmade bandage masterpiece will move to the backyard of the obstetric institution or become an exhibit in a hospital museum.
