The Ministry of Education proposed banning information on violence for children

The Ministry of Education of Russia proposed expand child information lists. In particular, it is proposed to prohibit the dissemination of any information that may encourage children to act violently in relation to peers, adults or animals.

What are the criteria for such information, what is considered dangerous from the point of view of incitement to violence is not reported, as well as it is not clear who will evaluate this information for its compliance or non-compliance with children's requirements.

The proposal does not look entirely clear, for the reason that any news release that goes through all channels throughout the day, and most feature films are one big forbidden content, because stories of high-profile crimes, incidents, chase scenes and fights can in fact be considered violent information.

Child psychologists believe that such a ban will not give anything.

A child who is properly brought up, who adequately perceives information, is able to distance himself, will not even allow the probability of a repetition of what he saw in his personal experience. Then how to throw a knife at classmates may well be a child who does not watch the news at all and does not play computer games.

The case, according to experts, not so much in information from outside, how much in the internal maintenance of the child. Therefore, it would be more correct, in their opinion, to increase the staff of school psychologists who could notice disturbing symptoms in time. Today, according to statistics, for every school psychologist in Russia, there are at least 680 children of different ages. With such a load, the quality of psychological assistance suffers naturally.

The Ministry of Education nevertheless intends to expand the prohibitions on information, and the new project has already been submitted for expert discussion on the portal of regulatory legal acts regulation.gov.ru.

Experts of the Ministry of Education argue that the need for more extensive information bans is overdue - too often there have been recent incidents in which adolescents attack other children and teachers. The loudest stories occurred in the Perm region and the Republic of Buryatia.
