Blue hair, piercing and tattoo: can they not let children with unusual appearance to school?

In Russia, a scandal erupted over the decision of the leadership of one of the secondary schools of St. Petersburg don't let a girl with rich blue hair color go to school.

Recall that the student was not allowed to participate in the lineup on September 1, and just sent home "to clean up."

Parents of schoolgirls were outraged and appealed to the ombudsman for children in the northern capital Svetlana Agapitova with a complaint against the actions of teachers.

The Committee on Education of St. Petersburg calls the current situation ambiguous. On the one hand, officials say, children should attend classes in neatly combed hair, their appearance must fully comply with the format of the school.

On the other hand, on the basis of only an unusual hair color, it is impossible to deny a child to attend school. Are violated constitutional rights of the child to education.

In past years, similar situations occurred in the schools of Kostroma, Novorossiysk, and Moscow. Teachers desperately resist children's measures of “self-expression” - tattoos, bright make-up and piercer to the point that unusual children are excluded from classes.

The ombudsman for the child’s northern capital has already stated that such situations are unacceptable. But with children and their parents it is necessary to hold explanatory conversations about the school dress code.
