Not just a toy: augmented reality glasses are recognized as an effective tool for treating autism in children

Experts from Stanford University came to the conclusion that the glasses of augmented reality Google Glass is not just an exciting toy. They able to provide real assistance to children with autism.

Two scientists Nick Haber and Kathleen Foss have organized a large project in which they are trying to combine the potential of machine learning with a facial recognition system. They suggest that augmented reality glasses will help correct autism spectrum disorders - children who have been difficult to communicate will be able to more easily build communication

In the first project, Haber and Foss involved 14 children with an established diagnosis of autism.

When communicating with children, scientists send them hints displayed on the glasses of virtual glasses. So the child gets the opportunity correctly assess the feelings and emotions of your interlocutor.

Systematic studies develop the psyche of an autistic child, it becomes more contact, it is easier to adapt to the new environment and strangers in their environment. Scientists said that their method will help millions of children to acquire sufficient social skills to live in society.

Among the first 14 children, 12 children have already seen attempts to respond to eye contact with adults, although this had previously seemed almost impossible.

Leading manufacturers of augmented reality glasses for children have already become interested in the new field of application of their products and have expressed their willingness to cooperate with researchers from Stanford.
