The list of mandatory medical examinations for children under one year in Russia wants to expand

Children under one year old will be examined by a larger number of doctors.

List of recommended professionals proposed to expand. Such a statement was made by representatives of the Ministry of Health of Russia.

Experts of the Ministry of Health consider that it is necessary to add an examination by an ophthalmologist in order to diagnose in time congenital glaucoma and retinoblastoma.

Earlier, children's oncologists repeatedly asked the Ministry of Health to include such an examination in the list of mandatory medical examinations.

Quite often, children with a malignant tumor of the retina get for treatment only after a year, when the stages of the disease are already very advanced. Treatment may be ineffective.

Today, by order of the Ministry of Health, children under the compulsory medical examination undergo examinations by a pediatrician, a neurologist, a surgeon, an ENT surgeon, and an orthopedist, as well as blood tests and an ECG (or ultrasound of the heart and blood vessels).

The decision to expand the list of specialists will be approved before the end of the year.

In addition to the oculist, consultations and examinations can be in the category of mandatory oncologist, infectious diseases specialist, dermatologist. The introduction of these specialists into the framework of preventive examination is still being discussed at the level of experts of the Ministry of Health.
