Teenagers will not be able to hide smoking and pregnancy from their parents

In the State Duma of the Russian Federation received a bill that intends to give parents the right to receive complete information about the health of their own teenage children up to their majority.

Amendments to the Federal Law "On the Principles of Health Protection of Citizens" were proposed by parliamentarians of the Samara region.

The authors of the idea explained that the amendment would allow adults (parents, guardians) to receive all the information from the doctors about the condition of the adolescent, but the adolescents themselves will also be able to receive all information from the doctor without the presence of an adult relative at this moment.

Very often teenagers don't tell your parents or guardians about the problems they face during puberty.

Such problems traditionally include smoking, early pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, injuries that occurred during a conflict with peers, and drug use.

Today's legislation allows the doctor keep this information silentif the patient himself insists on keeping medical confidentiality. However, this violates the rights and obligations of the adoptive parents and parents, who must take care of the child until he reaches adulthood.

If the amendment is accepted, the doctor will have to self contact with parents or official representatives of the child and tell them about a particular problem identified by him.
