Russia plans to change the order of communication of children with divorced parents

Deputies of the State Duma of Russia decided change the order of communication of the child with the parents, if they are divorced and live separately.

A bill has been submitted for consideration by parliamentarians, which proposes the adoption of amendments to article 66 of the Family Code of the Russian Federation. They clarify and supplement the description of the methods of communication of parents living separately, with children, and set the minimum timewhich is set aside for the child to communicate with the parent who lives separately after the divorce.

Parliamentarians believe that the father or mother who, after the dissolution of the marriage, do not live near the children, must communicate with the child at least 3 hours a week. Thus, according to the State Duma, it will be possible to protect the rights of children and their parents to unhindered communication.

After all, the former can only be spouses, parents and children are not the former.

The deputies are sure that the child’s psyche suffers if the child does not have the opportunity to see a parent for a long time, who, by the will of fate, was out of the family circle and now lives separately. In addition, judicial practice in Russia is full of cases when the parent who lives with the child begins to abuse their rights and severely restricts the communication of the child with the second parent solely of their own volition and because of personal offenses.

Amendments to the Family Code will help to quickly defend their rights in court, as well as reduce the number of lawsuits, because not every parent will consciously restrict the communication between the former spouse and the child, knowing that he grossly violates state laws.

If adopted, the amendment will take effect from January 2019.
