Russia will test a unique service to search for missing children

Megafon, together with experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, are launching test tests of a service designed to search for missing children.

The essence of the platform comes down to determining the last location of the child using the technology of analysis of "big data".

On practice it should work like this:

  1. The police provide the carrier with the data of the missing child - first name, last name, photo, age, and estimated last location;
  2. The telecom operator identifies subscribers who, presumably, could be located at a specified time, close to this place;
  3. These subscribers are sent messages with photos of the baby, it is possible that they have seen him, and someone will be able to remember something.

The platform is called "Megaphone Search".

For Russia, the service is unique.

But in general, in the world such platforms work successfully. For example, in the United States, sending out information about a missing child has been put on stream and worked to the smallest detail. Within 15–20 minutes after the parents ’application of the child’s loss, subscribers of cellular operators begin to receive photos of the missing baby.

As a result, quite often "losers" are found in a few hours..

How long it will take to implement the chain of actions planned in our country is not yet clear. It will become known when the results of the search service testing are announced.
