The essence of the revolutionary method lies in the introduction of a genetically engineered receptor structure into the small patient’s own cells.
After that, the cell with the receptor is doing everything possible to destroy the malignant cells.
In the world, the method has already been tested and repeatedly tested. The number of patients with leukemia and lymphoma who successfully underwent such treatment exceeded three thousand people. More than half of them managed to fully recover. The condition of the rest has noticeably improved, the course of the disease has slowed.
In Russia, the method of cell engineering has not previously been used and now tested for the first time.
Therapy has already been given to five children, four complete remission has come. By the end of the year, the doctors of the Rogachev Center for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology plan to help at least a dozen more children from all over Russia.
Money for the new method was collected by the richest people in the country - the head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, donated more than 100 million rubles from his own funds. Others followed his example. In total, the Hematology Center received more than 260 million.
