Russian women will be more profitable to "sit" on maternity leave

On January 31, 2018, a new draft law was submitted to the State Duma that aims to popularize the birth rate in the country. It offers increase the period of care for a child who is in employment from the current 1.5 to 3 years. This is the official publication of the parliament - "Parliamentary newspaper."

The authors of the draft law in the accompanying note explain that there are very few preschool institutions in the country, in which there are groups for children from one and a half years old. Mothers of these babies often cannot afford to work, because they simply have no one to leave their children with. Control Department of the President of the Russian Federation presented additional arguments - the number of kindergartens in the country over the past two decades decreased by almost 2 times.

Today, the law has a limit on insurance experience - a woman can be counted for a maximum of 6 years, which she spent in caring for children in her seniority. That is, giving birth to more than 4 children is unprofitable. Lawmakers propose to abolish this provision altogether.

In their opinion, the pension ratio for calculating the pension while the woman was on maternity leave should be increased. This will encourage women to give birth to a third, fourth, and fifth child, without fear that their old-age pension will be negligible.

If the law is passed, then, according to experts, this will help improve the demographic situation in the country, and also partially solve the problem of places in nursery schools of kindergartens. Recall that the instruction to deal with the lack of space for the youngest Russians was recently given by President Vladimir Putin.
