The status of a single parent in Russia is proposed to give to anyone who does not receive alimony

Russian moms and dads were asked to be recognized as a “single parent” if they for a year or more do not receive support from the second parent for child support.

Loner status will give such moms and dads certain benefits and the right to receive some social benefits. This proposal was made by members of the National Parenting Committee under the leadership of Irina Volynets.

The appeal was submitted to the Minister of Labor and Social Development.

Recognizing the parent’s loner status automatically implies deprivation of the second parent of parental rights. But the non-payer of alimony will be able to return his parental status and the right to communicate with the child, if he begins to pay the alimony again, he will pay all his debts.

Members of the National Parental Committee are confident that such an initiative will help protect the rights of the parent who is essentially raising the child alone, despite the fact that the second parent is listed on the birth certificate.

If they take the initiative, moms and dads who have received the status of single parents will be able to get numerous benefits and indulgences. Here are some benefits:

  • in case of reduction in the enterprise, a single parent cannot be dismissed;
  • a single parent, whose child is not 14 years old, can claim to establish part-time for him;
  • The monthly tax deduction can be halved;
  • the child will be able to receive free vouchers to sanatoria and camps
  • garden payment will be 50% less;
  • will provide material assistance from the state to collect the child in school, in kindergarten;
  • some communal benefits will apply.

Ministry of Labor promised to consider the proposal in the near future.
