All over the world today they remember the modest hero of our time - a man who saved several hundred Jewish children who were doomed to die during the Second World War.

Teacher Johan van Hulst received a unique opportunity - live a long and interesting life. He lived 107 years and only very little did not “reach out” to his 108th birthday.

During the war years, Johan van Hulst entered the underground network, which secretly took out right from under the nose of the Nazis, Jewish kids, sentenced to be sent to concentration camps, to certain death. On account of men - 600 saved children's lives.

After the war, van Hulst worked in the senate of the Netherlands, was a member of the European Parliament.

To the last he maintained sound thinking, senile ailments were powerless over him. In 99 years, van Hulst won the prestigious chess tournament.

Israeli authorities awarded him the title "Righteous Among the Nations". This title received only a few. He is honored by people who, not being Jews, made a huge contribution to the salvation of the Jewish people.
