Japanese doctors managed to save the youngest child in the world weighing only 268 grams

The smallest baby in world history was saved by Japanese doctors. Baby who born with a weight of only 268 grams, was discharged today from Keio University Hospital in Tokyo.

For the life of a child fought long half a year. The baby was born in August last year. Births were premature. Even the most optimistic specialists could not believe that the baby will survive. But now the boy has gained weight up to 3 kilograms and perfectly feeds himself on breast milk. Staying further in the hospital walls is not necessary, the doctors decided and sent the baby with her mother home.

During pregnancy a rare abnormality was detected in the fetus - he almost did not gain weight and did not grow up in the womb for reasons unknown to doctors. Then it was decided to conduct a cesarean section at the 24th week of pregnancy.

Caring for the crumbs demanded from parents and medical personnel around the clock surveillance, resuscitation measures.

Now the unique Japanese boy is planning to make a record in the world register of the smallest surviving newborns in the world, which specialists at the University of Iowa in the USA are making.

Before this baby, the record belonged to a boy who was born in Germany nine years ago. He weighed 274 grams at birth. The smallest girl in world history was born in the same country. Her birth weight was 252 grams.

To date in the world there are only 23 cases in which babies weighing less than 300 grams at birth have managed to save. Of these, only four are boys, and the rest are girls.
