There was no work, but now the woman has a criminal record.
According to employees of the employment center, who initiated the initiation of a criminal case, a single mother with her accidental part-time job caused damage to the state in the amount of 4,900 rubles. The amount of damage during the investigation increased to 7 thousand.
It all happened due to the fact that a desperate lady was registered at the employment center. And while waiting for help in finding a job, I took on any part-time job so that I could feed two children.
She unofficially got a job at a local pizzeria as a cleaning woman, in the evenings soap there floors and with the permission of the employer took home food waste, which could feed the kids. Employees of the employment center appealed to the police and accused the mother of fraud, because she paid unemployment benefits - as much as 4,900 rubles. Officials felt that side jobs and unemployment benefits are incompatible. The police agreed with them.
They decided to punish the mother not only by censure, but by criminal prosecution and filed a lawsuit.
The other day Olga Zhuravleva was convicted. She was found guilty of illegally receiving payments and obliged to 120 hours of forced labor. The single mother did not admit her guilt.
Neither the officials, nor the police, nor the court took into account the fact that one of Olga’s children was seriously ill - daughter suffers from epilepsy from birth.
The story, striking cynicism and indifference of law enforcement officers, servants of Themis and officials of the employment center, has already gone far beyond the borders of the Saratov region. Olga Zhuravlevoy learned about the difficult fate and potential employers.
Now she has a job. A single mom was invited to work at the Saratov brick factory, she had already taken shape.
Now the lawyers of Saratov together decided to help a woman cancel the sentence and defend the good name. The decision of the court of first instance has already been appealed to a higher court. It now remains to wait for the re-consideration of the case.
For reference: unemployment benefits are paid to non-working citizens of the Russian Federation, who are registered at the territorial employment center, until the moment they find a job, get settled and provide the relevant documents to the employment center. After that, they are removed from the register and cease to pay benefits.
There is one unpleasant nuance in this story - employees of the employment center knew that a woman has to work informally in order to survive with children, sympathized and gave her the opportunity to renew the benefit once again. Did not refuse, did not warn about the illegality of actions. Just issued a manual. And then they went to the police themselves and asked to deal with the "scammer."
The story caused a loud resonance. She was already interested in the prosecutor's office, in the office of the Ombudsman for Children's Rights in the Saratov region, as well as in the Russian Bar Association.
