How to choose a mosquito net on the stroller and how to fix it?

Content

Summer is loved by almost everyone, but even this beautiful time of the year has its own shortcomings. Heat comes first, but various flying insects that bite can cause significant discomfort, causing irritated skin to itch unbearably. For adults, the solution is obvious - they can use special sprays and fumigators.

However, in the case of a small child, the use of such agents is undesirable: for the reason that the baby is unlikely to observe safety precautions when using such toxic substances. A good solution in this situation can be a mosquito net, which is attached directly to the stroller. Thanks to her, the child will be safe not only at home, but also for a walk.

Special features

Some parents believe that a mosquito net for a child is chic, not a necessity, because they themselves grew up without such impressive amenities. This logic is not very correct, since for a child even the bite of an ordinary mosquito is a much more serious incident than for an adult:

  • A child is several times smaller than an adult in size, so a mosquito for him is like a huge bug for us.
  • Children, in principle, are very prone to allergies, because the same seemingly harmless bite can cause severe skin redness, itching and an allergic rash.
  • The danger of allergies comes not only from insects, but also from the dust, dirt or pollen of some flowering plants. Mosquito net can be an excellent barrier for such an irritant.

A certain motivation for the acquisition of mosquito nets is a purely aesthetic moment. A well-chosen accessory that blends well with the hood of the stroller complements the look and makes the vehicle more stylish.

Another incentive should not be ruled out: many mothers believe that the casual passer-by can envy the child with the envious gaze, which will result in various troubles for him, whereas through a mosquito net he cannot be clearly seen during a cursory examination.

Models and colors

The mosquito net is a fairly simple product to be divided by brand or model, but even such products are different. In accordance with the classification, advice is usually given on how to choose the right grid:

  • The grids come in different sizes, there are also different ways of fixing, and parents, before making a purchase, must be sure that this particular mosquito will suit their carriage. Of course, the fabric should be with a small margin in size. Even if it stretches, there will be cracks between the bindings of a size sufficient for dirt, allergens and insects to enter. At the same time, it is not necessary to acquire too large a mesh: it looks ugly, and will get in the way, and it will probably break faster.
  • Mosquito net comes in different shadesso that the product can match the overall color of the stroller, but black is not advised to buy, even if the hood is such. The fact is that black, as you know, very much attracts the sun's rays. Materials of this color heat up much faster in the sun. At the same time, the grid is far from a hood, it does not protect the kid from the drawn rays, letting them in, so there is a risk of depriving the child of the shadow on a hot day.
  • Holes that cover the entire net may vary in size (depending on the manufacturer). The best option is averaging. The logic here is obvious: if the holes are too large, they are unlikely to be able to delay everything that the anti-mosquito should prevent. Such a task would be perfectly handled by a grid with small holes, but in its density it can resemble ordinary fabric. Then a real greenhouse is formed under the hood (without the slightest breath of fresh air), and you can forget about the comfort of the baby.

How to fasten on a wheelchair?

To put the mosquito net on the stroller, you must use specially designed for this purpose elastic bands or velcro, which are already sewn on the product. At the same time, you need to wear them in the correct order - if you want the grid not to crawl, opening the baby, do not tear and allow you to quickly open it to access the child:

  1. The mosquito net is attached to the top of the hood, to the visor.
  2. The second step is to stretch it down and fix it at the base of the hood.
  3. Next to the baby’s feet, the net is fastened last (after it was fixed in the area of the hood).

If the mosquito net is already purchased, you should not postpone its installation for a moment just before the walk. It is clear that at home she will not be permanently secured in a wheelchair, because before going out she still needs to be removed to put the passenger in, but Immediately after purchasing mosquito net must try on the stroller. This will make sure that the chosen model is suitable for this stroller, and at the same time to train to quickly put on and take it off (in the worst case - to see that the choice was made incorrectly).

An early understanding of the fallacy of choice at least allows you to change the product in the store before it shows itself from the worst during the walk.

How to sew your own hands?

Many mothers who are accustomed to working with a cloth think that they could sew a mosquito net for their child on their own. The birth of a baby in itself means financial costs, and saving at least on such inexpensive things will help keep the budget safe and sound.

For this, they do not always need any skills related to cutting and sewing. If the special plastic raincoat is included in the kit, it can be used as an excellent sample. It is necessary to buy a sufficient amount of fabric suitable for the texture (for example, tulle or tulle) and cut the material according to the rain cover, using the latter instead of the pattern.

The process is as follows:

  • Take measurements from the stroller, as shown in the photo.
  • Cut out a rectangle of fabric in the following dimensions: width = cut: CD + 10 cm, length = cut: AB + 10 cm, make the edges of the figure round.
  • Secure the mesh at the edges with tailors pins (1.5 cm inwards) and flash it on the machine.

Mounts must be on those parts that are adjacent to the visor on both sides.

  • Cut out loops for attachment. The length of each piece of gum is equal to 7 cm.
  • Fasten the loop on the grid (as shown in the photo) and execute the machine stitch. You need to leave space for the entry of the gum.
  • With the help of a pin you need to insert a rubber band. The ends of the gum should be sewn by hand or on a typewriter.
  • As a result, the following mesh on the stroller should turn out.

The creation of an additional attachment is welcomed - in the form of separately sewn rubber bands, which can be skipped under a walking block or a cradle and tied at the bottom. This solution ensures a reliable fit of the anti-mosquito between the visor and the footboard. In places where the mosquito net will come into contact with the fabric parts of the stroller, you can additionally also sew Velcro. So inside no irritants will get.
