Plantar wart on a child's leg

Content

An unpleasant surprise for every mommy will be the appearance of a wart on the leg of a child. You can become infected with infection almost everywhere. The skin of the feet of babies is quite soft and gentle. This contributes to the rapid spread of warts on the sole of the foot.

What causes?

The disease has an infectious nature. Plantar warts result from exposure to human papillomavirus. This infection easily enters the body and quickly spreads through the bloodstream. Human papilloma viruses severely damage epithelial cells, which leads to the appearance of various warts on the skin.

Usually, infection occurs through the contact-household method. Kids who attend kindergarten can become infected with warts much faster.

Violation of the rules of personal hygiene contributes to the penetration of infection in the children's body. The baby can also become infected while attending sports sections. Often warts occur in children who are engaged in the pool.

The development of the disease does not occur in all babies.

There is no genetic predisposition to this disease. Only with congenital human papillomavirus infection can warts appear in newborns. A greater number of cases were registered in children aged 8-14 years. Usually they become infected after contact with a child who has warts on the skin.

The appearance of warts in a child is affected by several factors:

  • The initial level of immunity. Often sick children or toddlers with immunodeficiencies are more susceptible to infection. A weakened immune system simply cannot cope with the virus. This leads to the rapid development of infection inside the child’s body and the appearance of adverse symptoms.

  • Chronic diseases. In children with diabetes, there is a greater risk of warts on the legs and feet. This is due to the peculiarity of impaired blood flow and innervation in the lower extremities in type 2 diabetes.

  • Excessive sweating of the feet contributes to the more rapid development of plantar warts in babies.

  • Wearing the wrong shoes provokes the appearance of warts on the fingers. This occurs as a result of excessive pressure of the shoe on certain parts of the foot. If the product is made of a material with poor breathability, the risk of warts also increases several times.

  • Emotional stress and severe stress. These factors often lead to the development of exhaustion. It, in turn, helps to reduce the level of immunity, which leads to easier infection with human papillomavirus.

What does it look like?

Plantar warts are often multiple. As a rule, one element first appears. After some time, if no treatment has been carried out, the number of warts increases several times. The first growths usually appear near the fingers or in places of excessive pressure - on the tubercles, which are located below the toes of the feet.

In most cases, warts are on the soles. But there may also be growths on the dorsum of the feet. Usually they are dark or gray. Some plantar warts may have a brown color. On the periphery of the formations - pronounced peeling.

Warts on the feet are usually slightly elevated above the surface of the skin and quite prominent. In some babies, they may be flat. The size of warts ranges from 4-5 mm to 1 cm.In 3 years old babies there may be elements of larger diameter. The size and shape of the warts depends on the subtype of virus that caused the disease.

The ridge is covered with several layers of epithelial cells, which gives it a rather dense texture.

When you try to scrape the skin layers do not succeed. In some cases, even capillary bleeding may occur.

If you look closely, you can see one or several black dots inside each wart. They go deep enough to the underlying layers of the skin.

If excessive friction occurs while walking or wearing the wrong shoe, this can lead to injury. This situation often leads to bleeding in the area of growth and even possible secondary infection. In this case, weakened babies may experience severe inflammation or suppuration.

Diagnostics

If the child has warts on the feet, then it must be shown to the dermatologist. The doctor will carry out the necessary examination and make an accurate diagnosis. Not all skin growths can be interpreted as warts. Often, many plantar elements can also be caused by fungi. To exclude a fungal infection, additional tests are required.

The most common examination is a histological examination. As a rule, for this the doctor makes scraping with skin growth. The resulting material is sent to the laboratory, where the histologist makes an exact conclusion about the cause of the formation of growth on the skin of the child.

How to cure?

It is necessary to treat warts. Ignoring skin growths in the hope that they will disappear on their own is absolutely not the right tactic. Some parents think that the warts go away on their own. Such cases are actually registered. However, they are very rare.

Treatment of warts is a task that requires tremendous patience and a positive attitude towards achieving a result. Many reviews of parents who carried out the treatment of warts in a child also confirm this. Not all methods lead to a complete cure of the disease from the first time. Often you have to resort to re-removing the warts or replacing the way to do it.

All types of treatment can be divided into two types:

  • Cauterization at home.

  • Therapy in medical institutions.

Moxibustion at home

In order to eliminate warts from the skin, there is a huge amount of a wide variety of tips. Many of them really help to eliminate growths, while other recommendations are even dangerous to use.

To remove warts from the skin at home is quite difficult.

When choosing a method of eliminating warts, remember that the skin of a child is very sensitive to the effects of any chemicals. Often, babies under three years old have severe burns.

Most often in home practice for cauterization and wart elimination use:

  • Celandine. For this purpose, the juice of this medicinal plant is perfect. Broths made from pharmaceutical raw materials, have lower efficiency. It is better to carry out such treatment in the summer, when you can find flowering plants. Juice, flowing with a cut of celandine, have a strong cauterizing effect on the warts. The method can be used for several weeks to achieve the effect.

  • Use of antiviral ointments. 5% tebrofen ointment will do. She is appointed usually for 10-14 days. Included in the biologically active components have a detrimental effect on human papillomavirus. Usually a positive effect occurs after 2 weeks from the beginning of use.

  • Drugs with a cauterizing effect. These include "Super Cleaner" or "Feresol." These drugs should be used only on the affected areas.Gradually, skin areas are cleansed and become healthy.

  • Keratolytic patches. They contain active ingredients that can cause a chemical reaction on the skin. This leads to increased peeling and more active desquamation of epithelial cells. Apply such patches only on damaged areas. 3-4 procedures are usually prescribed.

Treatment in medical institutions

In some cases, and especially when the process is running, it is impossible to eliminate warts at home. Dermatologists can help parents, which remove growths from the skin and carry out a complex of all necessary therapy.

Among the medical methods of eliminating warts are the following:

  • Cryodestruction In this case, the growths are burned from the skin with liquid nitrogen. The procedure can be quite painful. With extensive damage to the feet, cryodestruction can be very uncomfortable for the child. However, the effectiveness of this method is very high. As a rule, growths are removed from the skin the first time.

  • Laser excision. The rays that the laser produces penetrate all layers of the skin. This allows you to remove even the most deeply located warts. After this method may remain small scars, which often pass on their own.

  • Surgical removal. It is used only in limited cases with the ineffectiveness of all other methods of treatment. The surgeon removes formations from the skin with a scalpel and surgical instruments. Before the procedure, the baby is given local anesthesia.

Treat plantar warts immediately, as soon as the first signs of the disease appeared. Only timely removal will prevent the rapid reproduction of these elements on the feet. Plantar formations are very effectively cured.
