Lasolvan syrup for children: instructions for use

Content

If a child has a strong cough, and sputum is difficult to separate, medications are used that belong to the group of mucolytics. Among them are very popular drugs Ambroxol. One of them is the German medicine called Lasolvan, which is praised for its effective action in various diseases of the respiratory tract.

For children, it is produced in the form of a syrup to swallow the medicine was easy. Is it possible to give such syrup to infants, in what dose it is used in children and what analogs can be replaced?

Release form

Lasolvan syrup is a practically clear and slightly viscous liquid that smells like wild berries or strawberries. This solution is almost colorless and is sold in bottles of 100 and 200 ml. In each carton box, a measuring cup of 5 milliliters is attached to the glass bottle to accurately measure the desired dose of the drug.

In addition to the syrup, Lasolvan is produced in other forms: a solution that is inhaled (this drug can also be taken orally), lozenges, tablets and long-acting capsules (they are called Lasolvan Max). Nasal spray Lasolvan Reno is available separately, but it has another active substance.

Composition

The main component of Lasolvana, due to which the syrup has a therapeutic effect, is ambroxol. This substance in the form of hydrochloride is contained in 5 milliliters of the drug in a dose of 15 mg or 30 mg. Additionally, the drug includes benzoic acid, purified water, gietellose, glycerol, liquid sorbitol and acesulfame potassium.

For a pleasant aroma, wild berry and vanilla flavors are present in the lower dose preparation, and vanilla and cream-strawberry flavors are in the medication with a higher concentration.

Operating principle

Ambroxol has a mucolytic effect, since this substance stimulates the formation of enzymes that affect the viscosity of mucus produced in the bronchi. The drug activates the secretory function of the cells of the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract, with the result that the volume of sputum increases. In addition, Ambroxol affects the production of surfactant and increases the activity of ciliary epithelium.

The result of this action is easier coughing up sputum and turning dry unproductive cough into a wet one.

Ambroxol is absorbed from the syrup taken inside very quickly. After 1.5-2 hours after administration, its concentration in the blood becomes maximum, after which the active substance passes into the tissues (mainly in the lung tissue). The effect of the drug becomes noticeable 30 minutes after ingestion and lasts up to 10 hours.

Indications

Lasolvan is used for those pathologies of the respiratory system, a symptom of which is the formation of very viscous sputum.

Medicine is claimed:

  • With pneumonia.
  • In acute inflammation of the bronchi.
  • In case of bronchial asthma.
  • With bronchiectasis.
  • With chronic bronchitis.
  • With other chronic pulmonary pathologies.

In this case, kiddies of the first year of his life are prescribed, since coughing up a large amount of sputum in infants is difficult. A medicine in which the active substance is presented in a dosage of 30mg / 5ml is contraindicated for up to 6 years.

If after 4-5 days from the start of treatment with Lasolvan, the course of the disease remains unchanged, it is necessary to consult a doctor.

Overdose

Accidentally exceeding the dose of syrup leads to nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea and other signs of dyspepsia. If an overdose is detected immediately, you should flush the stomach, and then call the doctor. If the syrup in too high a dose was taken more than 2 hours ago, you need to focus on the child's well-being and, if it has worsened, consult a doctor for symptomatic treatment.

Interaction with other drugs

  • Lasolvan in syrup should not be combined with antitussive drugs, because due to the inhibition of the cough reflex mucus can not normally be removed from the respiratory tract.
